WebTool of the Month: Infogram

Infogram is an amazing new web tool for creating infographics quickly and easily. The tool is very simple to use and offers a whole host of unique WYSIWYG editing options from dragging content around to in-tool data table formatting. This is sure to be a popular site as inforgraphics continue to grow in popularity. The site is free, robust, and going to be getting some more customized features and more templates soon. Looks like a great place for teachers and students to play with the art of visual explanation.

Resource of the Month: Tinkercad

Thinkcad is a free open source web-based tool that allows users to learn to design the products of their life. Students will be able to easily design in 3D what they have always dreamed of, but never thought possible. Until now. This is a fantastic tool to introduce real-world fabrication skills that teach student that that they can learn by doing. Tinkercad also has a growing community that helps users learn how to create their first real things in just a few minutes. A great tool!

App Resource of the Month: Android 4 Schools

Android 4 Schools is a great site to discover new apps for education that are available on the Android platform. Written by Richard Byrne, the force behind FreeTech4Teachers.com, this is an excellent resource for learning about devices and apps on the Android platform. With a ton of great resources out there for the iOS crowd, this site stands out as a unique departure with a growing library of useful apps for use in and out of the classroom.

eduClipper is a new web tool that I have been working on creating for the past several months that is aimed to make it fun and easy to find and share awesome educational resources.

Many teachers have taken to social networks as a way to collect and share content on the web. While those sites are great - we can't always use them in school and the people we want to share with (our colleagues and students) are not all connected.  That is what makes eduClipper so special.  We are building this tool to be intended for use in schools by teachers and students alike.

At launch the tool will have the basic functionality that allows you to clip or upload anything you want and then share it on a host of various social services as well as through a unique URL that can be used with users and non-users alike.

But that is just the beginning - We are looking at creating apps, working in an automated citation tool, teacher dashboards, and so much more.

You can sign up now at www.eduClipper.net and join the 2,500+ educators on-line to get access when we open up our Alpha later this summer.  We are working hard to have a special announcement at a certain technology conference this summer in San Diego...

ISTE 2012 Scheduled Appearances

ISTE is one of those amazing events that is about learning, making personal connections, and is truly an experience that is too massive to just call a "conference". The festivities kicks off on June 24th, but is preceeded by a wonderful event called Social EdCon. I will be attending the Saturday Social EdCon and look forward to engaging in meaningful dialouge and sharing sessions with educators from around the globe.

I have the privilege of presenting several times at this year's conference.

On Monday, June 25th at 2:30 in SDCC1 I will be presenting "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future" which is a colossal 400 slide presentation that is sure to make you think, question, and laugh.

On Tuesday, June 25th at 10:30 in SDCC Ballroom 20CD I will be presenting "eduTecher's Web Tools to Make Your Classroom Rock" featuring some of my favorite web tools for use in your classrooms.  This is one of those fun share sessions where you are sure to come away with a few new things to try.

And on Tuesday at 3:45 in SDCC 6A I have the privilege to MC and present at the ISTE Ignite Session. Ignite Sessions are unique 5-minute presentations made up of 20 slides sans animation that auto-advance after 15 seconds.  There will be 10 talks at this session and they are sure to light your brain on fire with great ideas.

I look forward to ISTE all year long because it gives those who attend a chance to connect with so many in their social networks.  Please be sure to say hello if you see me there.  I would love to meet you and hear about all the great stuff you're doing!

And Later this Summer...

I am very excited to announce that I will be returning to the stage at the 92nd Street Y to deliver another #140edu talk at the very end of July.  I am also going to be speaking at the "regular" #140conf on June 19th - but this talk is not focused on education.  As always, the #140s are sure to be an exciting and engaging event.

I am currently available for Keynote or Spotlight Presentations on educational technology which can be tailored to fit a specific audience or theme.  Feel free to contact me here.

Recently I had the honor giving a talk at TEDxNYED
