Civil Rights Leader Al Sharpton to visit Huntsville

Al Sharpton, a longtime civil rights voice, will make a visit to Huntsville in a few days.

Sharpton will be participating in a special community assembly at the Oakwood University Church, that begins at 6:00 p.m. on  Sunday, January 29.

Sharpton is the founder of the National Action Network, a civil rights organization. President Obama has described Sharpton as "a voice for the voiceless" and a "champion for the downtrodden."

Reggie Hicks, general manager of WJOU, recently published an article in th January edition of Radio World magazine. Radio World is one of the top broadcast trade publications.

The article describes how the radio station uses their new Comrex remote equipment to enhance the WJOU's community outreach efforts. 
 
For over 35 years, Radio World has been the leading news source for broadcast radio owners, managers and engineers all over the world. It is published in five editions including the flagship U.S. Radio World, Radio World International, Radio World América Latina, Radio World édition Francophone and Radio World Engineering Extra.

We are in search of nominations for a list of 120 Most Influential Oakwoodites.

Nominees will be presented during Alumni Homecoming Weekend 2017.

We are looking for names of those Oakwoodites who were either influential here at Oakwood -classroom, church, dormitory, basketball court, etc. -- or an individual who has positively influenced your life, or has transformed lives through his/her service following their time at the Oaks.

We need the following information:

Your name, and (in 100 words or less) why you're nominating someone  as an Influential Oakwoodite.  **

Please include the date(s) nominee attended Oakwood, especially the year he/she graduated,
