Greetings from Oakwood University!

"As we come to the season of Thanksgiving, it is with a heart full of gratitude that we at Oakwood University say thank you to our students, faculty, staff, and alumni, for your unswerving support. During this season when there is so much upheaval in the political world, strife between nations, confusion in the attempt to understand the world; I am thankful for the peace that God gives to his chosen.

Here are a few of the things that we at Oakwood are grateful for; a marvelously rich reputation for service, a spiritual center of "God First" that guides our campus life, faithful friends and supporters of the mission of our institution, the transformative learning that touches students, the success and influence of our graduates upon the world church, the dedicated alumni who love this institution, the blessing of belonging to a church that has not lost its connection to its educational mission, our LifeCore millennial research and much more like...

...  the 121st year of Oakwood University, which has been in the business of transforming lives since 1896.

... our Oakwood students, and for the eye-opening challenges that come with serving Millennials.

... the commitment of each Oakwood employee - our faculty, our staff and our team of administrators.

... the opening of Oakwood Farms

... a "reasonable portion of health and strength." I am grateful for my wife, children and family members, and the joy they bring to my life.

... our church and its worldwide message, which I heard for the first time during the summer of 1968, during an evangelistic meeting in New Orleans, conducted by Dr. E. E. Cleveland.

... the gift of tears and the sorrows which lead us to pray more earnestly for the return of our Savior.

These are just a few of the things I'm grateful for. While I am stopping for now, my list of blessings is just beginning. What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving season?

Prudence and I wish you a warm, safe and blessed Thanksgiving holiday."

#GivingTuesday

Before you make plans to shop on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, plan to invest your resources in the mission of Oakwood University -- on #GivingTuesday.

#GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, is c elebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving in the United States, and kicks off the  charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

The #oakwoodgivingtuesday campaign starts at midnight, Tuesday, November 28, and will end at 11:59 p.m. For just 24 hours on November 28, our goal is to raise $25,000 for the mission of Oakwood University in celebration of giving and generosity.

To help us reach our goal, you can CHOOSE where you want your tax deductible donations to go! Love listening to WJOU? Or perhaps you would prefer to donate toward scholarships? How about the annual fund? YOU choose!

On Tuesday, November 28, visit  ougiving.com to participate.  Whether $10,000, $1,000, $100, or $25, your gift is valuable at any level and will help us reach our November 28th goal of $25,000 in one day.

We are especially reaching out to our GOLD - that's "Graduates Of the Last Decade." All of our alumni from the classes of 2008 to 2018 are challenged to give a collective minimum of $5,000 to your  alma mater.

It's simple:
  1. Go to www.ougiving.com.
  2. Enter your donation amount.
  3. Select a campaign, any campaign you like. Scroll down and you choose.
  4. Complete required fields. Be sure to enter your class year if you are an alum.
  5. Make a comment, such as, "I designate my gift to the Business Department."
  6. Spread the word. Invite 10 of your friends and family to join you in #oakwoodgivingtuesday
Both one-time gifts and recurring gifts count towards our Giving Tuesday goal.
