The Jefferson Edge 2020 report is a five-year plan for the parish. It functions as a long-term blueprint to promote sustainability, job growth and investment over the next five years.
The updated plan refocuses the commission's efforts across five industry clusters including food, beverage, fishing and seafood; water transportation, distribution and logistics; health care; IT systems and products; and water, coastal and emerging environmental industries.
JEDCO Executive Director Jerry Bologna said supporting the hopeful revitalization of Avondale Shipyard and helping develop the Jefferson Highway corridor are key initiatives for the commission, among others.
Bologna said the ultimate goal with Avondale Shipyard is to put the site and its infrastructure back into commerce and create the jobs that were once there.
JEDCO will also continue working with Ochsner Health System on efforts to transform the area around its Jefferson Highway campus into a series of mixed-use, walkable developments.
"But we can't forget East Jefferson and West Jefferson hospitals, which also have great opportunities for growth," Bologna said. "Some ideas that have germinated from our conversations with East Jefferson and West Jefferson were, for example, branding the entire New Orleans region as a health care destination for certain health care needs."
The commission will also continue to help both large and small manufacturers streamline logistics and production by better connecting them with suppliers and target customers.
Other key action items in the JEDCO report include workforce development support and identifying major infrastructure improvements as well as a relatively new focus on supporting parish IT companies and preparing for RESTORE Act funding to be used for coastal restoration.
"The updated EDGE plan will position the community for long-term economic growth," Bologna said. "We are confident that we have developed a strategy that will result in an even stronger economic landscape for Jefferson Parish."
The EDGE 2020 report was born out of two rounds of stakeholder meetings with key industry groups and feedback from civic organizations and the general community over a five-month process.
U.S. Department of Justice awards law enforcement hiring grants to help build trust, reduce violence and protect schools
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) funding awards to two cities in the Eastern District of Louisiana, aimed at creating, and in some cases protecting, 17 law enforcement positions. Over $107 million will be awarded nationally, through the COPS Hiring Program (CHP), including $2,095,846.
The list of this year's grantees includes:
New Orleans Police Department: $1,875,000 to fund 15 officers
Bogalusa Police Department: $ 220,846 to fund 2 officers
Total Funding Awarded: $2,095,846
"The COPS Office is pleased to assist local law enforcement agencies throughout the country in addressing their most critical public safety issues," said Ronald L. Davis, Director of the COPS Office. "These grants are not simply about putting more officers on the street, they are about expanding the capacity of law enforcement agencies to engage in community policing."
"I thank the COPS Office for its continued support of law enforcement efforts in our District," state U.S. Attorney Polite. "These grant awards will help improve public safety in two important cities in Southeast Louisiana."
CHP provides grants to state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies to hire or rehire community policing officers. The program provides salaries and benefits for officer and deputy hires for three years.
Priority consideration was given this year to agencies that selected any of the Building Trust focus areas or School Based Policing through School Resource Officers. All applicants were encouraged to refer to the report of the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing for suggested actions to incorporate into their proposed community policing strategy.
The COPS Office is a federal agency responsible for advancing community policing nationwide. Since 1995, COPS has invested over $14 billion to advance community policing, including grants awarded to more than 13,000 state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies to fund the hiring and redeployment of approximately 127,000 officers and provide a variety of knowledge resource products including publications, training, and technical assistance.
For the entire list of grantees and additional information about the 2015 COPS Hiring Program, visit the COPS website at www.cops.usdoj.gov

NEW ORLEANS HEALTH DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES SOUND CHECK
Public health education initiative to reduce harmful sounds, health risks
NEW ORLEANS - Today, the New Orleans Health Department will launch a public health education initiative called Sound Check, which aims to reduce the level of harmful sounds that can adversely affect public health. Sound Check will engage residents, businesses, workers, performers and visitors to protect the overall health of the entire community by educating the public on how to accurately measure sound levels and how prolonged exposure to loud sound can lead to permanent hearing loss and other health issues.
A team from the Health Department's Healthy Environments program will begin working with stakeholders to make recommendations on the length of time one can spend listening to sound based on decibel levels, perform demonstrations revealing the relationship between perceived and actual decibel levels, advise ways to protect peoples' health in potentially dangerous sound conditions and provide information on how to seek help if one has sound-related health issues. The team will also start taking baseline sound measurements to determine the effect this campaign will have on decibel levels.
In 2013, the New Orleans City Council tasked the Health Department with addressing the issues around sound in the French Quarter and Marigny neighborhoods. The Sound Check initiative is the start of that work.
More information about Sound Check and how to stay safe around loud sounds can be found at http://nola.gov/health-department/sound-check/ or by calling 311.

FRESH & LOCAL
Can you believe it's been 20 years since we first opened our umbrellas at the muraled Reily parking lot at Magazine and Girod? When Richard McCarthy, Sharon Litwin and John Abajian co-founded the Crescent City Farmers Market in 1995, they aimed to create a public space where New Orleanians could meet, greet, and make groceries that were fresh and produced locally. A place where rubbing shoulders with farmers, chefs, and neighbors alike would be a weekly occurrence. 20 years later we're still gathering every Saturday to keep the dream alive and to help our small farming, fishing, and food producing families thrive. Join us this Saturday as we raise a toast to 20 years of the Crescent City Farmers Market. We'll have music from the Roamin' Jasmine starting at 9 a.m. and cake from Rivista and beet lemonade from Amanda to pass around at 10 a.m. You may even see some old faces coming out to make and appearance.
PICK OF THE WEEK:
GREENS!
Cooler mornings and evenings mean greens are slowly coming back. We've been seeing more and more mustard greens creeping into market and we can't wait until market explodes with kale, collards, turnips, and the like. Come on out and grab a bunch this week, but be sure to get to market right as it opens because it's still early in the season and they go fast!
TUESDAY'S GREEN PLATE SPECIAL
L'enfant Terrible is back this Tuesday to dish out another round of delicious market fresh fare. Join us from 9-1pm tomorrow, make some groceries and grab a plate for yourself!
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Fall is almost here but you can still see plenty of signs of summer lingering at market. Pick up a basket of okra before it's gone and try out this Shrimp and Okra Bhuna recipe!
Shrimp and Okra Bhuna
We love using local ingredients to make international dishes like this Shrimp and Okra Bhuna. Come out to the market this week for green and burgundy okra and gorgeous fresh caught Louisiana shrimp.
okraIngredients
1/2 cup yogurt
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Pinch of turmeric powder
cayenne pepper
salt
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 tablespoons corn oil, divided
4 button mushrooms, halved
1 medium onion, cut in half and thinly sliced
1 medium green bell pepper, sliced in thin strips
1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
1/4 teaspoon coriander powder
1/4 teaspoon chopped fresh garlic
pinch of turmeric powder
cayenne pepper
salt
1 medium tomato, diced
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
1 cup cut okra
2 tomatoes, cut into wedges (for garnish)
chopped cilantro (for garnish)
Directions
In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, oil, paprika, turmeric powder, cayenne, and salt; mix well. Add shrimp, cover, and refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours.
Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in a heavy wok or heavy-bottomed saucepan over high heat. Add mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, cumin, coriander, garlic, turmeric, cayenne, and salt. Cook, adding a little water from time to time to keep the vegetables from scorching. When vegetables are done, add marinated shrimp, tomato, and cilantro. Reduce heat and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until shrimp are done.
Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in a separate pan until smoking hot. Add okra and fry until lightly browned, then add to shrimp-vegetable mixture. Serve hot, garnished with tomato wedges and cilantro.

John Baur, Jill Collins and Cheryl Rogers
Debut Their First Novels at East Bank Regional Library
METAIRIE, LA -
Three new authors - John Baur, Jill Collins and Cheryl Rogers - will discuss their first novels at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie.
This event is free-of-charge and is open to the public. There is no registration.
Chrissie Warren: Pirate Hunter, by John Baur
Chrissie Warren, a 13-year-old girl living in colonial Virginia, is accustomed to her sailor father coming and going. But when he leaves on a voyage and doesn't come back, she discovers he's been captured by pirates. She decides she needs to do something about it. Disguising herself as a boy, Chrissie signs aboard a Caribbean-bound merchant ship. She is befriended by crewmates Charlie Stickle and Jack Farmer. Together they survive attacks at sea, a fight in an alley and a raid by the British press gang. With their help, she tracks the pirates to their lair. All that stands between her and rescuing her father is a showdown with the pirate captain - and only one of them can survive.
John Baur worked as a reporter/editor for newspapers and magazines. Then, in 1995, he and friend, Mark Summers invented International Talk Like a Pirate Day and his life took a different turn. They became well-known figures in the pirate community, wrote several books of pirate-based humor, performed on stages from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, New Orleans to Seattle, and have been featured on television, radio and newspapers all around the world. John, his wife Tori, and their kids moved to the Caribbean, where they lived four years. It was there that he wrote the first draft of what became this book. They now live in New Orleans.

Amanda Roberts Discusses the Importance
Of Pet Rescue and Transport Programs
METAIRIE, LA - The East Bank Regional Library will host a "pet transport program powwow" to increase awareness and recruit volunteers to become transport coordinators to pull dogs and cats out of high-kill animal shelters before they are euthanized.
The program will occur at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 at the library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie. It is free of charge and is open to the public. Registration is not required.
Amanda Roberts will lead the presentation. She represents C.A.R.E.S. (Critter Adoption, Rescue, and Education Society of Louisiana), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals through rescue efforts, adoption, public advocacy, education, litigation, and direct intervention.
"We arein the business of saving the lives of pets that find themselves in high-kill animal shelters where they will inevitably die, many by inhumane methods," says Roberts. "Our transport program gives these pets a second chance at life by transporting them to communities that do not have the pet over-population problem that we do. The program is very important for those communities where there are responsible pet owners, but their area shelters do not meet the community demand. Ultimately, it is a win-win situation for both animals and adopters. Without this program, thousands more animals would die each year."
Roberts will discuss methods to get animals out of shelters, specifically two new local transport programs.
Transporting Animals in Louisiana Shelters (TAILS), consists of volunteer transport coordinators who work with volunteer drivers to pull animals from Louisiana high-kill shelters and get them to the safety of various other rescues or no-kill shelters across the country.
Transporting Animals from Gassing Shelters (TAGS), works similarly to TAILS, but consists of volunteer transport coordinators that are dedicated solely to the gassing shelters. "The TAGS program will save hundreds, and eventually thousands, of animals from having to suffer through the long, torturous process of being euthanized by gas and will give them a second chance at life," says Roberts.
The library seminar will focus on training volunteers how to become transport coordinators.
For more information regarding the program, visit the organization's website at
www.facebook.com/caresla.org.

The meeting is free of charge and is open to the public. Books will be available for sale to those who would like to purchase them.

O'Neil De Noux, Southeastern Louisiana University Police Department Detective, Hammond
Crime writer and crime fighter O'Neil De Noux will open the conference with a presentation titled "New Orleans as a Partner in Crime" that focuses on the mysteries that have occurred in the city, but also explores the city as a character in its own right.
Much of De Noux's writing is character-driven crime fiction, although he has written in many disciplines including historical fiction, children's fiction, mainstream fiction, science-fiction, suspense, fantasy, horror, western, literary, religious, romance, humor and erotica.
At the World Mystery Convention in 2007, the Private Eye Writers of America awarded its Shamus Award to De Noux for Best Short Story to "The Heart Has Reasons." The story features De Noux's private eye Lucien Caye. De Noux was also the 2009 Derringer Award winner for Best Novella for "Too Wise" - another Lucien Caye private eye mystery. Another De Noux story, "The Bonnie and Clyde Caper" featuring New Orleans Police Homicide Detective John Raven Beau was runner up in the Derringer Award Best Long Story category.
In March 2011, the novel John Raven Beau was published by Big Kiss Productions, which was named 2011 Police Book of the Year by Police-Writers.com, a group of more than 1100 state and local law enforcement officials from state and local law enforcement agencies who have written more than 2500 police books. In January 2012, after six months of intensive research and 18 months of non-stop writing, De Noux published Battle Kiss, a 320,000 word epic of love and war set against the panorama of the Battle of New Orleans.
In 2012, O'Neil De Noux was elected Vice-President of the Private Eye Writers of America.

Scott Silverii, PhD, will discuss "Cop Culture," including the concept of alpha males, Special Ops (SWAT), and other topics.
Chief Silverii was appointed chief of police of the Thibodaux (LA) Police Department in January 2011, after serving 21 years with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, where he began his law enforcement career in 1990. During his tenure with Lafourche Parish, Chief Silverii served in a variety of investigative and supervisory assignments, including 12 years undercover and 16 years in SWAT. He was promoted to commander, and eventually supervised every criminal division within the agency to include investigations, support services, and patrol divisions.
Chief Silverii serves as a subject matter expert in data-driven approaches to crime and traffic safety for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which awarded him its Public Safety Service Award. He serves on IACP's prestigious Research Advisory Committee and NIJ's Crime Indicators Working Group for improving the UCR data collection process.
Committed to education, Chief Silverii has completed over 2,500 hours of advanced professional continuing education courses. He holds a bachelor's degree from Nicholls State University, and an MPA and PhD from the University of New Orleans.
Silverii's
latest work, Cop Culture: Why Good Cops Go Bad, combines these experiences in a unique examination of cop culture from an inside perspective. Other books include:
By the Numbers,
a collection of short stories: A Darker Shade of Blue: From Public Servant to Professional Deviant - Policing Special Operations Culture, a nonfiction book that focuses on cop culture; and Policy Alternatives for Reducing Prison Recidivism, an investigation as to why inmates continue to victimize communities. He has also published numerous fiction books in a Cajun murder mystery series.
12:30 p.m. - "Inside the Mind of a Police Sniper" and "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder"
B.J. Bourg, patrol cop, detective and SWAT officer
Amanda Bourg, PhD, psychologist
B.J. Bourg will discuss the facts and myths surrounding sniper work, focusing on the type of training necessary to enable a sniper to take a life. Bourg and his wife Amanda, will talk about post-traumatic stress disorder and how to develop believable characters with P.T.S.D.
Bourg is a 25-year veteran of law enforcement and has worked as a patrol cop, detective, police academy instructor, SWAT officer, sniper leader, and chief investigator for a district attorney's office. He is a former professional boxer and a lifelong martial artist. More than 185 of his short stories and articles have appeared in magazines such as Woman's World, Boys' Life, Tactical Response, and LAW and ORDER. He is also the author of three mystery novels: Hollow Crib, (2016), The Seventh Taking (2015), and James 516 (2014). Amanda Bourg, PhD, is a psychologist at a rural outpatient clinic for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Louisiana. She received her doctorate degree in counseling psychology from Oklahoma State University and a post-doctorate master's degree in clinical psychopharmacology from Alliant International University. Dr. Bourg has extensive experience treating people who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression, and one of her research articles was published in the 2006 Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment, and Trauma.

Tasting Notes
With tempting aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and spice, Zin-phomaniac is a complex, full-bodied wine with juicy, approachable flavors of ripe blue-purple fruit and dark semi-sweet chocolate. A kiss of vanilla and a touch of brown baking spice add depth to the long, satisfying mouthfeel.

Tulane City Center opens exhibit on history of O.C. Haley Boulevard
Tulane City Center, the community design center of the Tulane School of Architecture, will open an exhibit on the history of Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard Sept. 23 at its Central City headquarters, 1725 Baronne St.
Titled "Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard: Past, Present and Future," the exhibit will open with a reception and viewing at 6 p.m.
Drawing from the two and a half years of partnership between the
New Orleans Redevelopment Authority and Tulane City Center in developing the Façade RENEW program, the exhibit will feature historic photographs, architectural plans and documents exploring the physical and social history of the thoroughfare once known as Dryades Street.
Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard has undergone two centuries of change, beginning in the mid-1800s when it was a thriving commercial district developed around the Dryades Market. Irish and German newcomers, followed by Eastern-European Jewish immigrants and African Americans established a variety of businesses along the corridor.
For much of the 20th century, Dryades Street was a bustling alternative to Canal Street, and in the 1960s, served as a hub of civil rights activism. By the end of the century, however, it had fallen victim to depopulation and disinvestment.
Today, a long-anticipated renewal is underway, with restaurants, entertainment venues and shops lining the corridor. But questions have surfaced as to what impact the revitalization will have on the area's social, cultural and physical character.
"The exhibit is intended to frame the discussion of 'where we go from here' by exploring Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard's layered and complex history, and by uncovering stories of people and places as told through its built landscape," said Maggie Hansen, interim director of Tulane City Center.
Beth Jacob and Gabriell Begue of Clio Associates are the exhibit curators, and Allison Price and Ashley Ricketson are student assistants. The exhibit will be on display through Dec. 5 and is free and open to the public

Ogden After Hours - Tommy Singleton
06:00 PM - 08:00 PM
For the past half century, Tommy Singleton has been singing blues, soul, and New Orleans R&B classics in neighborhood clubs across the Crescent City. Combining passion, expertise, and exuberant crowd-pleasing charisma, Singleton makes especially strong personal connections with his fans by strolling from table to table for handshakes and hugs with members of the audience. This outgoing approach has made Tommy Singleton a longtime favorite at such storied venues as Ernie K-Doe's Mother-In-Law Lounge, Guitar Joe's House of Blues, the Young At Heart Club, Margaritaville, and many others. Singleton has sung at these clubs and countless others accompanied by an A-list of the city's best R&B and blues musicians. His resumé even includes a stint with the Living Dead Revue, a band that specialized in hits by R&B singers who have passed on, as represented by a casket used as a stage prop.
After decades of singing his heart out as one of New Orleans' best-kept secret talents, Tommy Singleton's profile is starting to rise. In 2010, Tommy was one of several New Orleans blues artists featured in the acclaimed radio documentary series Still Singing The Blues. Produced, written, directed and narrated by Barry Yeoman and Richard Ziglar of Durham, N.C., Still Singing The Blues aired on some 100 stations around the U.S., as well as overseas, and continues to be rebroadcast frequently
In 2014 Tommy made his debut performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and received a great review from the eminent music journalist David Fricke, of Rolling Stone:
"Singleton is not a star, even here. He drives an oyster truck by day and works the black bar-and-wedding circuit with a versatile, brawny voice that swings between Otis Redding in a Howlin' Wolf register and a fine-grit-lined Sam Cooke. His set, which included a tribute to the late K-Doe, was the right start for this weekend - old-school R&B delivered like the catch of the day and good for you at every hour. The next time someone tells me Jazz Fest has lost its down-home heart to imported closing-slot superstars, I'll send them this guy's way."
Tommy Singleton will be accompanied at the Ogden on 9/24/15 by the same musicians who played with him at Jazzfest in 2014: guitarist Ernie Vincent, keyboardist Bobby Love, saxophonist Derek Huston, bassist Millard Green, and drummer Ben Sandmel.

Dine with the sharks Sept. 24 at Audubon aquarium
On Sept. 24, New Orleans chefs collaborate on a six-course meal served at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas' Gulf of Mexico exhibit.
If dinner under the stars feels a bit passe, how about dinner under the gaze of more than a dozen sand tiger and nurse sharks?
On Sept. 24, a team of New Orleans chefs prepares a six-course meal at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, a dinner benefitting the Audubon Nature Institute's Gulf United for Lasting Fisheries (G.U.L.F.) program.
Guests will be seated in front of the massive Gulf of Mexico exhibit and its sea turtles, sand tiger, nurse and brown sharks.
The dining event, led by G.W. Fins chef and co-owner Tenney Flynn, features a group of chefs on the G.U.L.F. Chef Council, a group formed in 2014 as part of the Audubon Nature Institute's ongoing efforts to promote sustainable seafood harvested from fisheries in the Gulf.
"It's a great group of chefs and a great cause," Flynn says. "The backdrop is going to be incredible. While (diners) are eating fresh Gulf seafood they'll be sitting right next to the tank. We decided on a small number of guests (64 seats) so that everyone would get that experience."
Participating chefs include Flynn, Susan Spicer (Bayona), Alan Ehrich (Audubon Nature Institute), Kristen Essig (Meauxbar), Chris Lynch (Atchafalaya) and Jeremy Wolgamott (High Hat Café).
Dishes include crab Waldorf salad; a medley of tuna trifle, snapper ceviche and smoked spinach and drum salad; and fresh Gulf fish preparations with accompanying dishes like cracked pozole with huitlacoche and chanterelles, a dish Tenney says he was inspired to make following a summer trip to Oaxaca.
Tickets for the event are $150 and include wine pairings, tax and gratuity. Click here to buy tickets to the dinner.

Meet Elise Blackwell, author of The Unnatural History of Cypress Parish, when she reads and discusses her newest novel, THE LOWER QUARTER.
"The authenticity of Blackwell's New Orleans experience is clear on every page, from the bars the characters frequent to the sense of a city rebuilding itself ... will grip readers and keep them turning pages."
-Publishers Weekly
A man murdered during Katrina in a hotel room two blocks from her art-restoration studio was closely tied to a part of Johanna's past that she would like kept secret. But missing from the crime scene is a valuable artwork painted in 1926 by a renowned Belgian artist that might bring it all back. An acquaintance, Clay Fontenot, who has enabled a wide variety of personal violations in his life, some of which he has enjoyed, is the scion of a powerful New Orleans family. And Marion is an artist and masseuse from the Quarter who has returned after Katrina to rebuild her life. When Eli, a convicted art thief, is sent to find the missing painting, all of their stories weave together in the slightly deranged halls of the Quarter.

In this effervescent romantic comedy by Sarah Ruhl (IN THE NEXT ROOM, OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY; THE CLEAN HOUSE), it's a little bit of both! Long after their disastrous but passionate love affair, two actors are reunited on stage in a 1930s melodrama. A charming play-within-a-play, STAGE KISS reveals a frisky insider's view of howlove can unexpectedly happen both on and off the stage.

Rivertown Theaters Opens Its Most Ambitious Season Yet with
The Broadway Phenomenon, Tony Awards Record-breaking
Madcap of a Musical, "THE PRODUCERS"
New Orleans' favorite funniest man, Ricky Graham, will be directing a dynamic duo and two of the most respected actors in the city, Sean Paterson and Gary Rucker, starring in the title roles of the zany, irreverent musical and season opener, "The Producers," at Rivertown Theaters running September 19 - 27, 2015.
Based on the Academy Award-winning 1968 film of the same name, The Producers is the story of down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, a mousy accountant. Together, they hatch the ultimate scam: Raise more money than you need for a sure-fire Broadway fiasco...and pocket the difference. With the help of showgirls, dancing grandmas, and a cast of hilarious stereotypes, their plan goes mistakenly "right". The Producers has become a Broadway phenomenon, turning the tradition of a Broadway musical on its head and earning more Tony Awards than any other show in the history of the Great White Way. With tunes and a book by superstar comedian Mel Brooks and co-book writer Thomas Meehan (Hairspray), this big-time musical is truly one of the funniest shows around. Because of the adult language, the show is recommended for ages 15 & up.

NEW ORLEANS - Historically speaking, there may not have been a stronger musical partnership than the one that existed between Antoine "Fats" Domino and Dave Bartholomew. The iconic collaboration would sell over 65 million records and rack up over three dozen top 40 hits. Yet, despite the staggering numbers and the longevity of their careers, there was no venue in the duo's hometown that was dedicated solely to preserving the quintessential New Orleans sound. Actor, director and co-creator Lucky Johnson decided to change that with "Walking to New Orleans", a "Vegas Style" musical tribute to the New Orleans natives.
Walking to New Orleans
When: Thursdays-Sundays, 4 & 7 p.m. Continues through Dec. 31
The show dramatizes the work of Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew at Carver Theater. The musical show featuring Al "Lil Fats" Jackson and Shamarr Allen dramatizes the musical collaboration of Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew, who produced a string of R&B hits in the 1950s. At 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Carver Theater.
"BE A NEW ORLEANIAN - A SWEARING IN CEREMONY": 8 p.m., Thursdays to Saturdays, through Sept. 26, The Theatre at St. Claude, 2240 St. Claude Ave., New Orleans. Jim Fitzmorris' comic ride through what it takes to be a citizen of the Crescent City. A gala opening night includes pre-show performances and after-party. $20, $40 gala; (504) 638-6326.

Salon by Sucré is excited to announce details about Cicchetti - a special Italian-style happy hour that the recently-opened French Quarter restaurant is now offering on Thursdays from 4pm-7pm.
In Italy, Cicchetti refers to small, complimentary snacks or side dishes displayed on the bar in the early evening while guests sip on cocktails. Drawing on this inspiration, Salon is offering a variety of bruschetta and other small snacks free of charge along with $5 drink specials on classic New Orleans cocktails like Sazeracs, Death in the Afternoon, and Tennessee Williams. Cicchetti is available at Salon every Thursday from 4pm - 7pm.
Salon is the culmination of Sucré's beautiful approach to haute cuisine and its passion for exceptional service and presentation. It blends the formality of New Orleans service with the globally-inspired cuisine of Tariq Hanna in a casual dining room. Hanna's menu draws from a variety of influences, including his Middle Eastern heritage, childhood in West Africa and time spent in Great Britain. Beth McCaskey, an 18 year veteran of NYC's Union Square Café, heads up the bar program, offering several classics, new creations, and an entire tea cocktail program based on Salon's impressive afternoon tea service.
Salon by Sucré is located at 622 Conti Street in New Orleans. For reservations call 504-267-7098 and for more information visit www.shopsucre.com/store-locations

Ten years ago Ricky and friends did a show at Le Chat Noir to help boost the spirits of a city devastated by Katrina. It was scheduled to play for two weeks, and ended up playing thirteen months. Now, he's bringing back the show to celebrate how far we've come ! (Will FEMA always be a joke?)
For four performances only he'll recreate his New Orleans songs and characters with their "Yatitude" about the storm. Join him in what we do best here -- laugh at ourselves!
With the original people who made this happen -- Jefferson Turner on piano, Brian Johnston on quick-changes, and Su Gonczy singing incredible back-up!
