march 2018                                                             #104

Happy March!

This month the Newport St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on St. Patrick's Day itself-- Saturday, 3/17. For Newporters, it heralds the unofficial start of the spring season on the island! We welcome both the Vernal Equinox on 3/20 and "longer" days this month when we set our clocks to daylight savings time on 3/11.

March is also National Women's History Month! Follow our friends at D.F. Dwyer Insurance on Facebook throughout March for Motivational Monday posts on Inspiring American Women, in addition to St. Patrick's Day Fun Facts!

Remains of the Day Wow, the folks who update the old-school marquee at the Jane Pickens Theater will get a workout this month changing between the many screenings and events on their March schedule! My picks include:  Call Me By Your Name continuing through 3/8, Darkest Hour returning from 3/2-3/7, Fantastic Mr. Fox on 3/8, Faces Places from 3/9-3/15, Remains of the Day w/ Q&A by director James Ivory on 3/11 and Heal on 3/12. See more listing at their website.

Then for something completely different, catch This is Spinal Tap (@ volume 11), at the Greenwich Odeum on 3/23!
