Alberta media news The CRTC held hearings from March 27 to 29 to consider five applications received for a radio licence or licences to serve the urban Aboriginal communities in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa to replace the licences they revoked for Aboriginal Voices Radio.

AMPIA Awards On April 29, Rosie Awards will be handed out to recognize excellence in Film, TV and Digital Production in Alberta at the Alberta Film & Television Awards. As the primary fundraiser for the AMPIA, the evening brings out Alberta's brightest stars and industry professionals.

Nearly 300 of the brightest talents in the Alberta magazine industry gathered in downtown Calgary to honour the winners of the Alberta Magazine Awards. The annual event, staged by the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association (AMPA), showcases the outstanding work of magazine professionals from across the province.

AlbertaViews January 19, 2016-call it Black Tuesday-Postmedia Corporation merged its Sun newsrooms with those of the Journal in Edmonton and the Herald in Calgary. That day, 35 staff in Edmonton and 25 in Calgary lost their jobs. More cuts would come later in October.

Newcap TV CITL is owned by Newcap Radio and serves as an affiliate of CTV in Lloydminster, a city of 28,000 that straddles the Alberta and Saskatchewan border. The station shares studios located on the Alberta side of Lloydminster with its sister station, CKSA, an affiliate of Global TV.
