STUDIO VAILLANCOURT
winter 2014

Open Studio & Booksigning

"Looking for something unique to do with your Valentine?  Stop by Studio Vaillancourt  for a glass of champagne with John Oehler, author of prize-winning, romantic mysteries and thriller novels.

Aphrodesia is a mystery involving an aphrodisiac perfume.  Some folks call it an "Erotic Mystery" and there is a love story involved.  It recently won the 2013 Jatamansi Award for best perfume fiction.

Papyrus is a thriller/adventure story that starts when a secret message is discovered on an ancient papyrus.  It also has a love story, so maybe it could be called a "Romantic Thriller/Adventure Story."  It was a semi-finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award (a competition with 10,000 entrants).  I like this description from Kirkus Reviews:

"Oehler delivers a fusion of mainstream thriller and historical fiction, reminiscent of The Da Vinci Code. ... The novel is powered by intriguing scientific speculation, breathtaking locales, vivid description and references to Egyptian mythology. ... the plot is impressively knotty, the characters well-developed and the action virtually nonstop ... readers who enjoy intelligent, pedal-to-the-metal thrillers will find this archaeological escapade highly satisfying."

Passport to the Arts

May 9-11, 2014

Artists and art lovers from around the country will converge on Santa Fe for Passport to the Arts - a three-day, public art event held annually on historic Canyon Road over Mother's Day weekend. Art exhibits, demonstrations, live music, trunk shows, and activities for kids will be offered behind the century-old adobe walls and in the sculpture gardens of the galleries, boutiques, shops, and eateries that line this magical mile.

Openings, exhibitions, and receptions for artists will be held at many of the internationally-known galleries and artist studios on Santa Fe's historic Canyon Road beginning on Friday night and extending throughout the weekend. More than 100 artists will participate in the weekend's activities.

Headline events include the Artist Quick Draw, Live Auction and Artists Reception on Saturday. The catalog of items offered during Passport to the Arts will include paintings, sculpture, glass, jewelry, weavings, photographs, and pottery.

Bike Art By Jeff Della Penna

It's winter and I am thinking of painting in my warm studio, going on New Mexico adventures and  reading good books.  Artists, writers, and adventurers ...c'est la vie, together they make the world a more interesting place.  I hope you will join me in welcoming novelist, John Oehler to Santa Fe.  I can't resist a good mystery book, especially one that takes you to exotic lands.

My studio is quite in the winter and I do get a lot of painting done.
Thank you for a great 2013. As always, I appreciate your art patronage.
Step out of the cold and come visit soon.
