Hello Belmont-Redwood Shores Families,

Welcome back! The first day of school is Wednesday, August 22. That day, like all Wednesdays, will be a minimum day. We have a new lunch vendor, construction at Ralston Middle School, a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) resource for you, lots of school site events, and volunteer clearance information.

Lunch Program
LunchMaster is the District's new lunch vendor. To register and order lunches, please start by going to the District's lunch webpage , where you will find the registration link, school codes, free and reduced-price meal applications, and other lunch program information. By switching vendors, we were able to lower prices compared to last year.

Ralston Construction
Road construction in front of Ralston Middle School is expected to continue through November. We apologize for delays caused by the construction and encourage parents dropping off students at Ralston or Fox to allocate additional time for travel.

FAQ for the Student Information Update
Each school year we require families to update their student's emergency contact information. You should have received an email for each child enrolled. If you have not received an email or have questions about the process, please read our Student Information Update FAQ . It's important that your student's emergency contact information be accurate and up to date.

Upcoming Events
Looking ahead, all schools have social/orientation events as well as Back To School Nights (BTS) scheduled in the next two weeks. Please look for these events on your school's calendar. I've provided links below:

Central School (new family welcome 8/23, BTS 8/23, social 8/24)
Cipriani School (family social 8/19, parent social 8/22, BTS 8/30)
Fox School (TK/K social 8/18, BTS 8/20 or 8/23, depending on grade level)
Nesbit School (Gr 6-8 orientation 8/20, TK social 8/21, BTS 8/29)
Ralston Middle School (Incoming student BBQ and orientation 8/21, BTS 8/30)
Redwood Shores School (TK-1st grade socials 8/21, school social 8/21, BTS 8/23)
Sandpiper School (Gr 6-7 orientation 8/20, social 8/20, breakfast 8/24, BTS 8/30)

We understand that this year Cipriani's and Sandpiper's Back to School Nights conflict with that of Ralston. If you only have one parent/guardian to attend Back to School across two schools, we recommend that you attend the Ralston BTS event and send an email to your elementary teacher and principal, who will make arrangements to get you the relevant information. I apologize for this administrative mistake.

Volunteer Clearance Information
If you are interested in volunteering at school, we ask that all new volunteers fill out this  form  to indicate your interest. Along with the form, some of you may wish to participate in volunteer activities (field trips, for example) that require fingerprint clearance. For more detailed information about volunteering, you can click on this  link . Importantly, if you have completed this process in previous years, you do not have to do it again. Our clearance process will remain valid throughout your time in BRSSD.

Sincerely,

Michael Milliken
Superintendent
