ON Gov't to Release Budget on Wednesday

Your Chamber made pre-budget deputations to the Ontario government in January and February in preparation for this year's budget, with a focus on cost and competitiveness and a strong emphasis on the unfulfilled commitments to create exemptions from the aviation fuel tax for our Northern communities. Right now on our ON Budget page you'll find links to our presentations as well as Premier Wynne's recent Speech From the Throne. Following Wednesday's release we'll have links to the 2018 Budget as well as analysis and response from your Chamber network. Stay tuned for more details!
Pillar 2 of 4: Fostering Job Creation

The second of the four pillars of the Vote Prosperity platform makes three policy recommendations designed to foster job creation in Ontario. These recommendations were developed in consultation with Chamber Members across the province and include:
-          Modernizing the apprenticeship system.
-          A redesign of Employment Ontario services.
-          Working with industry and post-secondary institutions to address the needs of a changing labour market.
-          Focusing resource allocations to overcome Ontario’s scale-up challenge.

Upcoming Leaders Luncheon on the Ontario Economic Report to Offer Perspectives Large & Small

How have the changes in provincial policy over the past few years impacted business operations? How have they impacted re-investment? What have they done to Ontario's investment-readiness? These are a few of the questions Ontario Chamber President Rocco Rossi will address during the Ontario Economic Report Leaders Luncheon next month. He'll also talk about the way external factors like the US political landscape are influencing Ontario's economic outlook and the overall level of confidence in the province, with the Ontario Economic Report as a reference. Join us on April 17 as we explore the future of Ontario and how Thunder Bay fits into the big picture.
