First dance of 2012 Another year of chills, thrills, and the pill
Let's all meet up in the year 2000 - twelve. Another year of the pill kicks off in flash fashion this Friday night at Great Scott, ringing in twenty-twelve the way we kissed of the bitch of elevens - with an all night modern indie dance party spun by residents DJ Ken & Michael V.
The first few weeks of the New Year continue the pill tradition of hosting the booming sound of Boston's rock and electronic music scene, from electro-mental duo Ruby Ridge next week (doubling up as John Flax's sendoff to Portland) to two Vanya Records release parties, February 10 with Boston's next great rock and roll band, the psych fury of the New Highway Hymnal, and April 6 with one of our city's most brilliant electronic minds, Andre Obin (Endless Wave, Matters & Dunaway).
In addition we'll also welcome to our elevated stage Paul Sentz's alt-rock fling Slowdim, fast-risers Autochrome (whose rousing first single "Senses" was just named WZBC Flyweight's 2011 Song of the Year), and whatever other half-cocked theme nights we hatch as Britpop's 15th anniversary year focuses on a rather up-and-down 1997 (A "Song 2" funeral in February? Proper Be Here Now reflection in August? Or an Urban Hymns live tribute night in September?).
Whatever's in the mix, it all happens at the pill, Boston's best indie dance party, established out of North Station in the fall of - when else? - 1997.
Look sharp xo the pill
