Happy Birthday, Holy Family!
On February 11, 1954, the Pennsylvania Department of Education signed the legal charter to establish our alma mater, Holy Family College (now University)!

Habitat for Humanity Bingo
Holy Family University's Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter will be hosting their annual Bingo on Saturday, February 18 at 6:00 pm in the Campus Center gym. The event will raise funds to support our students on their upcoming trip to build homes in North Carolina over Spring Break. See complete details here.

Tickets cost $25 and include 18 rounds of bingo. There will also be concessions, raffle baskets, and a 50/50. To purchase tickets, please contact habitatforhumanity@holyfamily.edu.
Save the Date! Tigers on the Loose
Join us on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at The Academy of Natural Sciences, the oldest natural sciences institution in the Western Hemisphere, for a scholarship celebration to raise critical funds for student financial aid.
The evening will be held in the Academy’s Dinosaur Hall, where attendees will eat and mingle among over 30 species of extinct dinosaurs. A reception will feature food stations, hors d'oeuvres, and an open bar in the Academy’s exhibition spaces. Following a short program in the auditorium, attendees are welcome to explore the first floor’s exhibits.

  • Holy Family welcomed Wendy K. Parsons, CFRE as the new Vice President for University Advancement. Wendy is an advancement leader with more than 25 years of experience, and comes to Holy Family from Albright College where she served as vice president for advancement.   • We are saddened to report the passing of Sister Jeanette Lawlor, CSFN, '63. In addition to her many years of service at Nazareth Academy High School, Sister Jeanette served Holy Family University as Board Chair from 1989 to 1995 and in other roles in the Registrar's Office and the Finance Office from 2003 to 2006.
  • Five Holy Family University professors (listed below) are recipients of the 2023 Ray and Mildred Taylor Awards to fund four important research initiatives. The award program was established through an endowment created by Carol Taylor '75, H'22, RN, Ph.D., a former University faculty member who served from 1979-1987 and 1995-1997 in the School of Nursing & Health Sciences.

  • Tiffany Watson Ed.D.’17 and Brian Berry, Ph.D., professor of Education at Holy Family's School of Education, were recently honored by the Journal of Special Education Technology, a prestigious peer-reviewed journal published by the largest professional organization for special educators, the Council for Exceptional Children. Their article was selected as the Research Article of the Year.
  • Holy Family students, Sister Rita Fanning, CSFN, '89, vice president of Mission and Diversity, Jill Snyder, director of Campus Ministry, and Father Timothy Tarnacki, OSPPE, campus chaplain, joined representatives from several Philadelphia colleges and universities for the second Synod on Synodality with Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez at Neumann University on January 24.
Athletics News
  • Holy Family Men's and Women's Basketball head coaches Ryan Haigh '05 and Bernadette (Dickson) Laukaitis '00 hosted former Tiger athletes at the double-header game on Saturday, January 14. The Alumni Day festivities also included a reception at Maggie's Waterfront Café.
  • Melissa (Murphy) Witner '03 was honored during halftime of the January 25th women's basketball game. Melissa, a soccer alumna, recently became the third individual Tiger to be inducted into the CACC Hall of Fame. Congratulations!

Distinguished Writers Series
On March 28, Holy Family University will host a Distinguished Writers Series featuring Sara Nović, author of the of The New York Times Bestseller TRUE BIZ. The event will be held in Campus Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m. For more information, click here.

Holy Family to Host Mayoral Candidates
On Tuesday, April 18, Holy Family University will host a 2023 Philadelphia Mayoral Candidates Debate, sponsored by the Northeast Times and the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee.

All are invited to join us as were hear from the 2023 Mayoral Candidates and learn of their vision for the City of Philadelphia. The structured debate will be moderated by Tom Waring, Editor of Northeast Times, and Daniel McElhatton, Esq., of the Law Offices of Daniel P. McElhatton, PC and member of the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

All are invited to join us as we celebrate the 2023 Reunion Classes (those ending in a “3” or an “8”), the Golden Alumni Society, and the 2023 Alumni Achievement Award winners.

Special recognition will be given to the Class of 1973 (50 years), the Class of 1998 (25 years), the Class of 2013 (10 years), and the Class of 2018 (5 years)! Stay tuned for more information.

Apply for Federal Student Loan Debt Relief
The Federal Student Loan Debt Relief program seeks to provide eligible borrowers with a one-time full or partial discharge of their loans. Federal Pell Grant recipients may receive up to $20,000 in debt relief and others may receive up to $10,000 in debt relief.
