JANUARY ISSUE
Welcome to the Parent & Family Newsletter!
Susan Wolff, Office of University Relations

As we wrap up the month of January on campus, we are already eager for glimpses of spring. The cold weather and snow certainly slows us down and sometimes hinders the campus from getting outside (other than to go to class of course!). However, the concept of 'community' is extremely important to us so we get very creative around here!

The student activities team does a fantastic job offering varied indoor opportunities for fun and connecting, plus we have several sports in season for the campus to rally behind! More details are enclosed below to encourage your student's participation.

I'm really excited about implementing a Parent Prayer Night via Zoomdetails are below. Please consider joining us!

If you have recommendations for items to include in our upcoming bi-monthly newsletters, please send those to ONUcares@olivet.edu

The Associate Chaplain, Antonio Marshall, is rolling out a new program: Discipleship Groupsand he is recruiting D-group leaders this month. D-groups serve a twofold purpose: to mentor and disciple those already seeking to live in the way of Jesus, and to foster space for students to explore their faith. We will share more in the months to come!

An Encouraging Word from
Tammy Chenoweth

Well, here we go into 2022 and into the final semester of this academic year! I hope that your student didn’t just survive the first semester, but thrived! I also hope, as parents, that you’ve been able to see your student progress well in the areas of academic, mental, and spiritual development.

My prayer for your students is that they would love the Lord their God with all their heart, all their soul, all their mind, and all their strength (Mark 12:30). I continue to pray this over my now-married kids. I have always told them that my main concern was not what they wanted to study or what job they would have, but that they would do what this Scripture verse says. I know if they do this, then I can have confidence in their decisions and what they do with their lives.

Whether you have a senior (and are wondering what’s next for them) or a freshman through junior student, I encourage you to pray this scripture over them this semester and watch with expectancy what God does in their life. I hope this will give you peace throughout the semester. Blessings!
