🏳️🌈 Celebrate Pride Month this June
|
|
June 1st marks the start of Pride Month, a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.
On June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar, resulting in six days of rioting in resistance of LGBTQIA+ discrimination, police harassment, and exploitation. 53 years later, the LGBTQIA+ continues to fight for their rights and liberation.
Ways to support the LGBTQIA+ Community:
- Donate to organizations directly serving the community.
- Use a person's preferred pronouns.
-
Contact your local representatives to advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights.
-
Learn more about being an ally by doing your research and asking questions.

|
We invite you to support Safe Homes during Pride Month. Safe Homes is a program of Open Sky supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA+) young people, and their straight allies, between the ages of 14-23.
Safe Homes has been operating virtually throughout the pandemic and is returning in-person at 4 Mann Street, Worcester, MA later this month! Safe Homes will continue to offer virtual support for youth.
