Thanks to Everyone who Gathered for the Venice Pride Holiday Tree Lighting
On Dec. 19 we gathered together to watch the lighting of the tree. About 50 friends attended representing the High Schools from North Port and Venice, our friends from Project Pride and SunCoast MCC along with new friends.
A group who came from North Port told us "we are excited to be able to celebrate PRIDE closer to home. In the past, we've had to travel to Sarasota or other areas of FL. "

PROJECT PRIDE SRQ GALAVANIZES THE GREATER SARASOTA, FL COMMUNITY
Project Pride SRQ was created in Sarasota, Florida in 2019 with the intention to bring a feeling of Pride and unity to the community through events, activities, and celebration while supporting existing LGBTQ+ friendly organizations and businesses.
Project Pride SRQ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Project Pride SRQ will host ongoing outreach events, activities, and educational programs to engage and unite the greater Sarasota area.
These ongoing events will also serve as fundraising opportunities. Project Pride SRQ will strive to unite the community through altruistic endeavors for the greater good of the Sarasota area. Finally, the intent is to utilize funds generated throughout the year to support various causes important to the LGBTQ+ community.
OUR MISSION
Expand awareness and understanding of the LGBTQ+ community by creating strategic partnerships with local organizations, businesses and governments toward a shared goal.
OUR VISION
Be an all-inclusive community where everyone is equally united, supported and celebrated.

INCREDIBLE SHOUT-OUTS
We are incredibly proud of the impact Project Pride SRQ has made on our community at large since our inception, despite the challenges of the pandemic, including kicking off the largest celebration of June Pride Month in Sarasota’s history, marching the “Grand Flag”* (video below) - now 700’ inclusive rainbow flag - over the John Ringling Bridge, lighting up Sarasota with Pride - a month long call for businesses, residents, and government buildings and structures to light up in rainbow colors including the Sarasota John Ringling Bridge, Taste of Pride, Pride Pet Parade, Pride Car Parade, The Brunch Show** (video below) - a virtual talk show interviewing local leaders, SRQ LGBTQ+ History Series - delving into the rich LGBTQ+ local history, an interactive history timeline featured on ppsrq.org, Pulse 5-year memorial Candlelight Vigil, multiple outreach services - homeless drives, food drives, and healthcare worker wellness packages, secured Sarasota’s First Ever Proclamation declaring June as Pride Month for the LGBTQ+ community, and perhaps our largest project, installing a city approved inclusive rainbow street mural, and much more.
LOOKING FORWARD
We plan to reach new heights of celebrating Pride in Sarasota and beyond and continue to grow our partnerships with important LGBTQ+ organizations such as Venice FL Pride.
