First Women Build

Starts with a Bang!

Team Melody Hackett and Blessed Sacrament Students Do Two Days of Demo!

Hello and Happy May!

Watch our video of the first weekend of Habitat's first Women Build! It's the first home we have purchased for a complete overhaul, from roof to crawl. Team Melody Hackett came to rip things apart as did students from Blessed Sacrament, who were sponsored by DPG Construction and Ellinghausen Grading! Our fundraising teams, contributors and gifts-in-kind donors have rallied to put us on a path to success. Also, there is nothing like doing demo on tubs and toilets to promote teamwork! Part of Westchester Commons Concert Series for the First Time!

We have been chosen to be a beneficiary of the Westchester Concert Series on June 13, featuring the band 64 Crayons. If you are interested in volunteering with us that evening to serve beer and wine, please contact mckaylar@habitatpowhatan.org. We would love to have you!

Home Dedication Around the Corner

Stacey Eggleston and her children will celebrate their home dedication next month on June 9. They have worked many sweat equity hours at our ReStore on Saturdays and inside their new home. We can't wait to mark their success as well as your generosity in helping build this home and providing a pathway to an affordable mortgage!

CRITICAL REPAIR CLIENT MATTIE PLEASANTS

SPOKE FROM THE HEART!

At our joint Spring Fling fundraiser with the Free Clinic at the end of March, Powhatan resident Mattie Pleasants (pictured above with our vice board chair Bill Carlson) spoke about the home she and her husband, Pete, built together in the 1990s and how your donations to the critical repair program have helped to keep her beloved home safe after her husband's passing two years ago.

Powhatan Farmers' Market Opens May 2

Take time to enjoy the market on the lawn at Bienvenue in the village on Thursdays. It's a wonderful two hours to slow down, talk with growers and makers, and see old and new friends. We will be there May 30!
