Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary (FFAS)

June 2024

Dear Lisa,

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We have been asked to help with a big rescue. 48 birds have been seized from a cockfighting ring in Buck’s County, PA. Freedom Farm Animal Rescue in NJ is working with the SPCA and they asked for our help.

We will be taking in a few of the birds. They will need to be quarantined and then they will need housing until they can be integrated into our current chicken area. There is also a chance they won’t be able to be together with our current flock so then a permanent enclosure will need to be built. Time will tell.

These poor birds have been living a horrific life. Many of the roosters had their combs and wattles cut off, which is common practice in cockfighting. Several deceased roosters were found on sight. The roosters, hens and chicks found were without food or water.

We are grateful we are able to help.

So we are asking for donations to help with the travel costs (it will be an eight hour drive there and back), new housing and veterinary costs.
