Hello Friends,
Hello summer! It has been a whirlwind month as we prepare to host our first larger camp events in over a year. It feels so good – and new – to gather together, give and receive hugs, see smiling faces! This moment in time holds so much joy and relief.
This moment also holds everything that we have experienced in a pandemic that is ending, and not ending. Our “Pick 2” policy has evolved in conjunction with CDC guidelines for those that are vaccinated. If you are vaccinated, you will no longer need to wear a mask indoors or outdoors. Masks will still be required for those not fully vaccinated. Outdoor mask wearing will still be required for those not vaccinated when in close proximity to others. Bottom line, be vaccinated if you are eligible!
Out of love for the vulnerable, there also may be times that vaccinated guests will still be asked to wear a mask. Bottom line number two, put compassion and flexibility in the driver’s seat.
We can’t think of a better way to transition than to be outside for play, rest, reflection and to come together in these sacred spaces. That’s Outdoor Ministry, and that’s what UCCI offers for you. Event registration is still open, so take a look and plan to join us this summer at Moon Beach, Pilgrim Center and Cedar Valley.

This special camp program is designed for people living with mild to moderate dementia and their care partners (spouses, adult children, friends). Experience a holiday at Moon Beach in the beautiful Northwoods with trained volunteers and camp staff who will provide a variety of programs. If you’ve ever been to a memory café, picture this camp session as resembling a café with all meals provided for several days along with a cozy cabin that can accommodate small or large groups or entire families. Grandchildren are welcome! Sit by the lake, go fishing, swim, take walks, do arts and crafts projects, chat with others living with dementia, all in an environment that invites you to feel relaxed and renewed. All UCCI events are affirming, but this one is special! This retreat at Moon Beach is designed for LGBTQ+ persons and families who would like to connect with those who have shared lived experience. For singles, couples and families of all definitions.

AMAZING PILGRIMAGE
Experience intense challenges and have fun with Color Wars! This week has the strong feel of a Spirit Week, where daily color challenges encourage teamwork and a sense of friendly competition during boat races, scavenger hunts, and glow-in-the-dark night games.

TENDERFOOT
Tenderfoot is for younger campers to come to camp on their own for the first time. Experience all of Pilgrim Center's favorite summer activities like crawfishing, kayaking, and Fitness Before Forks.
