2026 Church Conference

Wednesday, January 28th at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom

Grace Church will hold a specially scheduled Church Conference on Wednesday, January 28th at 7:30 pm, chaired by our District Superintendent, Rev. Sarah Schlieckert, to vote upon the facility renovation plans presented by our Stewardship of Resources Committee. The planned Facility Renovation has been affirmed already by the Stewardship of Resources Committee members, as well as approved by the Church Council.

This is the last, official step needed in the process as we undertake a renovation to improve the functionality, hospitality and easy of navigation of our building. Grace’s leadership thought we had completed this step with the Church Council vote but learned recently that the scope of our project necessitates a Church Conference vote. The renovation plans have been presented to the congregation previously. For those who wish to review them again, information pertaining to the plans and funding for the project can be found HERE.

This special church conference will be held by Zoom only. All professing members of the congregation are eligible to vote and will need to be able to appear on camera to be able to vote.

Reclaiming America's Moral Compass

Saturday, January 24th at 9 a.m.

All are invited to attend an interfaith conference “Reclaiming America’s Moral Compass” on Saturday morning January 24that Grace United Methodist Church. The event is sponsored by our Faith and Justice in Action group and is the second in a series uniting clergy and congregations on issues that deeply affect people of all faiths.

“Reclaiming America’s Moral Compass” will address dehumanization and how it fuels both the abuse of immigrants and the collapse of U.S. compassionate foreign aid. It will include speakers and panelists from frontline Highland Town churches, the Esperanza Center, Catholic Relief Services, Impact Global Health Alliance, World Relief, and more. There are many organizations providing support to our immigrant communities, and we hope to highlight them and bring new interest from attendees. We see that faith communities are leading the response to the abuse of immigrants in cities throughout the U.S., and we hope this conference will help houses of faith do the same in Baltimore and Maryland.

The morning will begin at 9AM with an interfaith discussion on how our faiths ground us and counter the evils that follow the dehumanization or “othering” of people. The second and primary panel will have representatives from local churches whose congregants are in peril from government seizures of individuals and deportations. It will also highlight local religious efforts in support of immigrants, such as health care, legal aid, and more. At the end of the morning, there will be a final, shorter duration panel that will again address what international aid work has survived and how it can be supported. Faith communities have been at the forefront of responding to the abuse of immigrants in cities throughout the US. This conference aims to help houses of faith do the same in Baltimore and Maryland.

Support the Music Ministry Fund!

The Music Ministry Fund at Grace Church supplements the church's music budget by allowing the ministry to hire additional musicians for worship for special Sundays and to pay for expenses related to the in-house concerts throughout the year, which includes musician's fees as well as publicity and advertising for these concerts.

This coming year, the Music at Grace Concert Series is hosting four in-house concerts:

March 27th at 7 p.m. | Four-and-Two-Hand Piano Concert presented by Kathryn Locke and Chris Schroeder, a yearly event featuring music for one piano, four hands, and solo works by both performers.

April 19th at 3 p.m. | Baltimore School for the Arts Vocal Concert: Students of former Bass Soloist, Robert Cantrell, and current Alto Soloist, Patricia Hengen-Shields, present an afternoon of vocal music.

The musicians at Grace Church greatly appreciate your contributions to our Music Ministry Fund. To support the music at Grace go to the "online giving" tab at graceunitedmethodist.org and scroll down to "Music Ministry Fund” to make a contribution or simply write a check indicating “Music Ministry” in the memo line.

We hope that you will make plans to attend these concerts as well as invite others to attend. We are blessed at Grace with wonderful musicians who support us not only in worship but also at concerts presented to the Baltimore community.

A/V Volunteers and Photographers Needed!

Are you interested in audiovisual technology or photography?

We are looking for volunteers to assist with running Grace's A/V Sunday Service needs, including operating the lighting and sound systems, doing some photography, and even helping with the livestreaming of the service.

Volunteering is an excellent way to serve behind the scenes while still attending service! For students in middle and high school, it is also an opportunity to earn service learning hours needed to graduate!
