Warmup Season
We've got a full lineup of events coming your way—most of them completely free 😘—and just like the spring temps, we're only getting warmed up! We'll soon be celebrating the launch of our newly expanded Creative Commons studio, right next door to the shop, with a neighborhood party, and we can’t wait to gas up all the creativity you bring to it. More on that soon!
| | April has been peppered with preparatory work for settling into the new space, including the installation of a new back door, opening the shared wall to install a double-door entry, a new front window, and some electrical updates. We appreciate your patience with the dust and the noise, but as an art shop, everything we do here is about work in progress anyway! | | We're counting the seconds until we can welcome you into the new Creative Commons space with a studio-warming party. Until then, we've created plenty of opportunities for you to Midwest-Lurk and get a peek at the progress! | |

| | Art Camp: Registration Now Open | | |
This summer, our newly expanded Creative Commons studio will be bursting with color, curiosity, and kid-powered creations—and registration is officially open!
Art Camp is designed for rising kindergarten through third-grade students and runs Monday through Thursday from 9am to 1pm.
Each week explores a different creative theme, giving young artists the chance to experiment with new materials, techniques, and ideas in a supportive, hands-on environment.
| | | In addition to their studio time, campers will head across the street each day for outdoor playtime at The Garden at the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts—giving them a chance to reset, move around, and soak up some fresh air before getting back to creating. | | We offer a sliding scale tuition model, and also have a locally-sourced box lunch option from Bloomingfoods available to add during registration. | | If your kiddo loves to draw, paint, build, swirl, squish, or splatter, we’ve got a seat with their name on it. Spors are already filling, so get your emerging artist registered soon! | | Bloomington Zine Club Kick-Off | | Reclaiming the pizza party, one club
kick-off at a time. | We break out all our classroom materials for sharing at free meetups. | Plenty of art supplies, pizza, and good vibes to go around! | Baby's first zine. and zines for swapping. |
the TLZL: tiny little zine library
| So many folks came out to share their ideas, writing, tips + tricks, and art! | |
Last spring, we learned that the Bloomington Early Music Festival partners annually with Bloomington’s Exodus Refugee chapter to create a special art exhibition. Before they could even finish describing the event, we knew we wanted to help support this effort however we could.
We’re thrilled to once again contribute tools and materials for the New Neighbors Art Exhibit—a collection of artworks created by participating families to document, reflect on, and share their journeys.
From May 25–31, the FAR Center for Contemporary Art will showcase this powerful body of work. During evening performances, visitors are invited to explore the exhibit, offering a deeper glimpse into stories of resilience, hope, and belonging.
All Bloomington Early Music Festival events are free and open to all. In-person concert venues are fully accessible.
