Sign Up to Be A Room Parent
What is a Room Parent?
Each SES class will have two assigned Room Parents, selected randomly from the pool of applicants. The Room Parent’s primary role is to support the classroom teacher and facilitate communication between the PTO/school administrators and the classroom parents.
What are a Room Parent’s responsibilities?
A Room Parent’s responsibilities will vary based on grade level and teacher. Duties may include, but not be limited to: attending classroom events and sourcing supplies for events (at the K level), welcoming new families, posting sign-ups for class events, or planning/executing class parties (for grades 1-5). At every grade level, a Room Parent is responsible for coordinating gift-giving for the assigned classroom teacher and any additional staff working within your designated class. Please note that you can only be a room parent to one classroom per year, regardless of the number of children you have at South School.
We are looking for two volunteers per class to assist our classroom teachers by serving as 2023/24 Room Parents. If interested, please submit the form by Friday, September 15th. Email Sarah Pinard or Molly Smith with questions.
