Here's a few things to make your tournament day go more smoothly.
Please download the Tournament Program and send a copy to all your parents. Ask if they are inviting family members etc to please give them specific information team information. There is nothing more heartbreaking then trying to figure out where Susie is performing if we don't know which challenge or school we are looking for.
Make sure you have all your forms ready to go the night before. You will need two copies of the Declaration of Independence, one copy of your Expense Report and five copies of the Tournament Data Form. All forms can be found at the end of the Rules of the Road. Younger teams can have the Team Manager help them with the forms. Older teams are expected to do this themselves.
There is parking plenty of parking in both the front and back of the school. To get to your site easily Game On, Heads Up, Escape Artist Medical Mystery Elementary and Secondary and Pop Up plan to park in the front lot. Monster Effects, Medical Mystery Middle Level plan to use the back parking lot. Parents etc can help teams move things into the school but remember: if you break it, they have to fix it! Everyone is encouraged to help the team remove items from the performance area once the team is finished.
Plan to check into your challenge 20 minutes before the scheduled time. This applies to both the Long Term Challenge and Instant Challenge.
Only the Team and one Team Manager are allowed up stairs for Instant Challenge. Please plan to meet your team supporters in the cafeteria when you are finished
The team or Team Manager may not bring any devices, including but not limited to cameras, cell phones, iPads or tablets, computers or timing devices, and wrist watches into the IC room. The team can ask the Appraisers for the time remaining at any point during the Instant Challenge.
Once again the Teal Taco Truck with be providing food for the tournament. They will be parked outside the cafeteria and begin serving around 11:00 until 2:00 but they will stick around if people are still eating. You can find their menu here:
Teal Taco Truck
You will find concessions located in the cafeteria. Concessions will have shirts, pins, drinks and snacks. Beginning at 5:30 they will move into the gym to sell light-up devices for the Dance Party.
During the Day:
We invite you to stick around and support other teams throughout the day. Some teams come from quite a distance and would love a larger audience to perform in front of.
Also, KEVA Planks is lending us their planks for the kids to play with during the day. You will find them near concessions.
All of the Tournament Committee is wearing purple shirts with white South Metro logos on the left side. We are happy to assist you in any way or will find someone who can.
The Regional Tournament is a celebration. Winning is not the only criterion of success. Everyone is expected to set a good example by showing good sportsmanship. Unacceptable behavior by teams and/or supporters will be penalized
Right now the weather report says 48 degrees and a 20% chance of moisture. But this is Colorado and we all know that can change. In case of snow we will proceed with the tournament unless Littleton Public Schools cancels events.
You can pick up your Long Term Challenge raw scores about an hour after the teams performance. When the scores are ready there is a large sign and your name will be checked off. The team and team manager(s) need to ask for the Head Appraiser. No parent and siblings please. If there is something the team questions and a resolution isn't available through the Challenge Master, the team can file for a DIalogue. We do not give back Instant Challenge Scores.
Places to State:
We will be sending our First, Second and Third place teams to state. Additionally, we have been given three Wild Cards to send as well. The Wild Card teams will be chosen by scores with the narrowest margin to the third place team.
The Party will begin at 5:30 in the Main Gym. There will be a DJ, dancing and games. Parents please be warned: THIS IS LOUD! feel free to bring ear plugs.
We will begin the Awards Ceremony at 7:00 pm. We begin with our favorite event the Rising Stars Parade. Please plan to have your Rising Star team meet Susan outside the Gym at 6:45. The kids will parade in, receive their Rising Star medals and lead the gym in the Toody-Ta. You are welcome to take your little Rising Stars home, we know it's been a long and exciting day for them. Many teams like to sit on the floor during the Awards Ceremony, you are welcome to bring blankets to sit on.
We work hard to keep the Awards Ceremony to 1 Hour. We ask that you remain for the entire ceremony.
You can pick up your Final Score Packets with all the scores from your challenge
the Awards Ceremony.
