Rangers Showcase their Work at Research in the Rotunda | |
On Wednesday, April 2, over 150 undergraduate student researchers from across the Universities of Wisconsin, along with their faculty advisers, shared their research findings with state legislators, state business and nonprofit leaders, UW alumni, and other supporters at the UW’s 21st annual Research in the Rotunda (RITR) event in the State Capitol. The University of Wisconsin-Parkside was represented by 15 outstanding undergraduate student researchers.
Dr. David Higgs, UW-Parkside’s Faculty Coordinator for Undergraduate Research, explains that the annual RITR event is a valuable opportunity for student researchers to refine their presentation skills. “The UW-sponsored Research in the Rotunda is an important annual event that gives undergraduate students at all UW-System institutions the chance to present and discuss their various independent research and scholarly work with Wisconsin State Legislators and head Administrators of the different institutions,” Higgs explains.
| | Video Participants Needed! | |
Greetings Campus Community,
Traditionally, May 1 is used as a commitment or deposit date for incoming students. Most colleges/universities ask students to submit a deposit by May 1 to secure their spot in the first-year class. As you may know, at UW-Parkside, we do not ask students to pay any costs upfront to commit to the institution and instead charge their new student fee (which includes an enrollment deposit and costs for transition programming) to their first tuition statement. In order to create a culture of excitement and to have students show their commitment to Parkside, we are asking first year students to register for New Student Orientation by May 1. If a student does this, they are then entered into a drawing for a chance to win a FREE 2025-2026 parking pass! Of course, we allow students to sign up for New Student Orientation after May 1 as well, but we are trying to incentivize the sign up process and highlight/reward those students who commit early.
This is where your help is needed! We want to feature a variety of faculty, staff, and students in our May 1 video we are creating. Essentially, it will consist of shots of different Parkside faculty, staff, and students with participants saying “May 1!” or holding up the numbers 5/1. For reference, you can view the video we created when we started the initiative back in 2023.
We have selected a few different dates and times for filming Thursday, April 10 and Friday, April 11. If you are interested in being a part of this video, please sign up by going to our SignUp Genius in the link below. You only need to be available for about 10 minutes for the time block you sign up for, we will be there the whole time. For example, if you are only free at 2:15 p.m. but a filming block starts at 1:30 p.m., join us at 2:15 p.m. 😊 We will provide props for you to use, all we need is you! Please feel free to wear Parkside gear or anything green when you come to film.
Thank you for your consideration and continued partnership. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions to Caitlin Dobson, Campus Visit and Transition Experience Manager, at dobson@uwp.edu.
Go Rangers! 🐻 ❤️

What Is ATP?
The Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) is on a mission to rebuild finance, human resources, and research administration systems at every institution within the University of Wisconsin System. The goal is to reduce the complexity of the current administrative environment and refocus valuable staff time on UW’s mission of education, research, and outreach.
To make this vision a reality, we’re working with people across the UW to standardize processes and implement new, best-in-class technology to support these essential functions.

Did You Know?
1. Students approved for exam/quiz accommodations should take the exam at the same time or at least the same day as their peers.
2. Students must schedule exams/quizzes in Accommodate 48 hours in advance (excluding Saturday and Sunday).
3. The testing area is never full- if a student reports they cannot schedule for the same day, they waited too long to schedule in Accommodate.
4. Students should obtain the instructor’s permission before scheduling an alternate day or time with SAS.
5. Instructors will get an automated email alert when a student schedules their exams/quizzes. This would be an opportune time to verify if it’s scheduled per your expectations.
6. SAS sends an email reminder with a cover sheet two days prior to the exam date. You don’t have to wait for the reminder to send the exam.
7. If a student misses an exam, it’s up to the instructor to determine when the student will reschedule. The instructor should email sas@uwp.edu and the student with a new day of retake.
