Breaking Records One Young Adult at a Time!
Greetings!
Your support has made this past year one for the books!

With your help, Hearts to Homes was able to furnish 150 homes for young adults aging out of foster care - a new record for requests for assistance! This is a 49% increase over the 101 youth assisted during the same time last year. In July and August alone you helped us provide furnishings for 35 apartments, 40% more than those same two months in 2022!

We could not have responded to this unprecedented need for assistance without your invaluable support for our mission and the care you offer to these young adults aging out of the foster care system.

A young adult who was recently referred wrote this note. "Not only are you getting home appliances for people, but you are also putting smiles on the faces of everyone that gets a chance to experience this."

From our team at Hearts to Homes and the young adults we serve, we thank you for helping to put smiles on the faces of 150 young adults this year!
Recipient Spotlight: Thanks From Juah
Hearing how recipients feel about their newly furnished apartments really shows the impact of your support. Juah is one such recipient, and we wanted to share her experience with you to show you how much your help means to youth aging out of foster care:

"The items I received through the program are not just material possessions; they have transformed my new apartment into a place where I can create beautiful memories and feel a sense of comfort and belonging. The thoughtfulness behind each item, from the kitchen utensils and bedding to the furniture and decor, is evident and deeply appreciated.

More than just the physical items, your program has given me a renewed sense of hope and optimism for the future. It is heartwarming to know that there are compassionate individuals and organizations out there, like yours, who are dedicated to supporting those in need. Your program has made a lasting impact on my life, and I am truly grateful for that.

Please extend my gratitude to all the generous donors, volunteers, and staff members who have contributed to the success of the Hearts to Homes program. Their kindness and selflessness have provided me with a fresh start and a solid foundation upon which I can rebuild my life."

With heartfelt appreciation,

Juah B.
Your generous contribution allows us to help more young adults as they age out of foster care. Your support helps lift someone up, giving them a safe and furnished home from which they can complete their education, build a career or raise their own family. Would you consider a donation today?
Expanding Our Assistance to Employed Youth Thanks to You!
Over the summer, Hearts to Homes implemented a trial to offer our services to more youth by making some temporary changes to our referral requirements.

After evaluating the results of this two-month trial, we are pleased to announce that all young adults who are employed - either full-time or part-time - can now be referred for furnishing services.

Prior to this change, referrals were restricted to those who had a high school diploma or partial progress toward a GED. There are many reasons why a young person in foster care may be unable to complete high school or obtain a GED.

We recognize that being employed is a major accomplishment and increases the odds of long-term stability. Having a home furnished with the essentials for a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room complements employment and increases the odds of stability as well. We are excited to offer furnishings services to this new group of young people, and grateful for the feedback from our referring partners.

As always, we are thankful to our supporters who make all of this possible!
Summer Fun at Open Hearts Out East
On a lovely August evening in Southhampton, we held our first Open Hearts Out East friend-raising event. The event, held at Sea Green Designs, introduced Hearts to Homes to potential new donors and volunteers. Attendees learned about our mission and the youth we assist while enjoying drinks, appetizers, and live entertainment. As you may recall, we expanded furnishing services to foster youth in Nassau and Suffolk counties beginning in September 2022. One year later, we have furnished 14 apartments for young adults on Long Island.

Generous donations from this event were used to furnish four apartments for young adults in Suffolk County - two in September and two in October!

We'd like to thank our sponsors: Shannon Willey, owner of Sea Green Designs; Xavier Flouret Wines; Diane & John Vezza; and Mary Theresa & John McCombe. Additional thanks go to our caterer, Silver Spoon Specialties, our musician, Johnny Cuomo, and our beautiful balloon artist, Makenna Meehan. Lastly, thank you to our Board of Directors and Associate Board members for their help in prepping for the event!
