As we reflect on 2025, we want to take a moment to thank all of our RSC and Michigan Stars Oakland families for a fantastic year of soccer. As the true roots of soccer in Rochester, we are incredibly proud of the community we have built and so grateful for each of you who make it special. From Thunders to SDA to Stars Oakland, our goal is to provide a place where players can develop, grow, and deepen their love of the game.

A quick reminder that Winter Recreation Session I is nearly full, with limited spots still available in Session II. Be sure to register soon to secure your spot!

REC & SDA NEWS

Winter Registration Reminder

Winter Recreation registration is almost full for Session I but there are some remaining spots in Session II. Please register as soon as possible to ensure that your player can join us this winter! (Availability varies by age group.)

Please note, due to new turf installation at the OU dome, Winter I programs (except for U6, which is at RARA) will now begin on January 11. Once the season begins, registrations will be prorated accordingly.

ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to our November Athlete of the Month winners — Giovanni and Luna! Each month, one boy and one girl U6+ from our Recreation and SDA programs are recognized for their sportsmanship, effort, and love of the game. Winners each receive a $20 Subway gift card and are featured on our social media, website, and newsletter. Summer Champions Cup

We are pleased to announce that we will once again be participating in Summer Champions Cup for 2026! SCC gives players the ability to get competitive matches in during the summer without the burden of travel.

• Tryouts: January 12 & 14

• Birth Years: 2016-2011

• Season: June 15-July 23, 2026

• Training and Games: Mon-Thurs (no Fridays or weekends)

This opportunity is for everyone! You do not have to be a current MI Stars player to participate.

SCC Tryout Registration

US Youth Soccer Age Group Change

Next year, US Soccer is changing team formation from birth year to school year for all travel teams. This is a big change for Michigan Stars Oakland families and we want to ensure families understand what it means for team formation, player placements and the timeline for adoption. A Town Hall meeting was held on Dec. 16 to discuss these changes. If you were not able to make the Town Hall, a link to the presentation is included below.

We want to ensure that this is a smooth transition for all our teams. If you have further questions, please reach out to our Director of Coaching at esunje@rscsoccer.org.

Stars Giving Back!

Our 2016 Michigan Stars Oakland girls spread some holiday cheer by donating fleece blankets to the pediatric unit at Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital this season. What a wonderful way to give back and brighten the holidays for others!
