We like to talk about Zen knitting. Knitting and crocheting -- actually any creative endeavor -- should be a pathway to a time when you can let go and put the concerns of the day at rest.

The One Bag Blanket Project is another good idea for zen knitting.

There are six colors choices of HiKoo Simpliworsted.

First Press Olive

Silver Hair

Gun Metal Gray

Seattle Sky

Old Gold

Totally Taupe

This project is the same as our One Bag Baby Blanket, but in a more sedate choice of colors. These are colors you’d drape over a reading chair or across the back of a sofa.

HINT: Order two bags if you’re planning a really big piece of knitting.

We all know that a blanket project takes time — you won’t finish in an evening or in a weekend and that’s good. Handling soft yarn and creating something brings soothing space to a stressful day.

HINT: Treat yourself to a new AddiTurbo circular needle.

Use a 32” or 40” for knitting blankets. With the longer cable you can spread out the stitches and really see the progress of the knitting.

Here is a one page, one-sided hint sheet that shows how to do the Russian join. The Russian join method splices two ends of yarn. It is an easy tip to learn and works especially well on worsted weight yarn.

Russian join is secure and avoids the need to weave ends into the back side of the knitting.
