"Education is a matter of the heart." — St. John Bosco
Autumn brings a sense of settling in and focus to our school. As we look toward next week's Fall Conferences, we can take a moment to pause and consider the many graces here in our school community. For example, attending weekly school Masses together, including our special Grandparents' and Grandfriends' Mass tomorrow. We are excited to welcome them to St. Pius!
We also receive amazing support from our community, which includes groups such as the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) who hosted a spaghetti dinner on Sunday with some of the proceeds benefitting the school. Additionally, we have dozens and dozens of winter coats available for free to any student here at St. Pius, through the generous donation of the Knights of Columbus.
Two weeks ago, we gathered for our Parent Club kickoff to learn about exciting plans for this year and to envision a bright future for our students through Strategic Planning. We have another opportunity to come together next Tuesday, October 22, at 6pm for our Multicultural Night for Parents. This event will be led by second-grade parent Mrs. Satarupa Joardar, and husband and School Commission President, Mr. Rohit Mojumder.
Please join us this Sunday, October 20, for our All School Mass at 11am at St. Pius X Church. Our students will be actively participating by singing in the student choir, reading, gift-bearing, and ushering. Remember to have your children wear their school uniforms.
We look forward to seeing you at these upcoming events as we continue to strenghten our school community!
Peace,
Mrs. Farewell

Multicultural Meeting
Tuesday, October 22
6:00 PM
Dear Families,
For those of you who do not know me yet, my name is Samantha Merca. I am originally from Colombia, and this is my third year teaching Spanish at St. Pius X.
I am writing to invite you to a multicultural meeting that we are organizing on Tuesday, October 22 at 6:00 PM at St. Pius X School. The purpose of this meeting is to bring together our school families to share ideas and discuss how we can help our students integrate and have the best multicultural experiences.
We believe that this meeting will be an excellent opportunity for you to meet new families, learn about different cultures, and expand your involvement in our school activities. Additionally, we would like to encourage attendees, if possible, to wear something from their traditional customs—whether it is a dress, a hat, or something similar—and/or to bring a cultural object that symbolizes or represents your culture, values, or traditions. For example, if you are from Japan, you could bring a traditional Japanese teacup; if you are from Texas, perhaps a cowboy hat and boots.
Moreover, if you would like to bring a small plate of food that represents your culture, it would be highly appreciated. This event will be a great way for everyone to experience the diversity of our community. Remember that the goal of bringing a cultural object is to share something from your culture with others and to help us learn about each other’s cultures. It is important to be respectful of other traditions and cultures and to stay open-minded about learning new things.
We hope that you will be able to join us for this exciting evening.
Thank you for your time. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
Samantha Merca
