The library will be closed Monday, January 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Iowa author Linda McCann is here to discuss her book "Prohibition in Eastern Iowa". In the book, McCann reveals the history of the 13-year experiment in America known as prohibition and its effects on the people of eastern Iowa.

Community Craft Corner

National Soup Month Storytime

Teen Laser Tag Night

Get ready for the ultimate teen library takeover at our Teen Laser Tag Night! Round up your squad and get ready for an epic night of strategic battles and endless fun. We'll provide pizza and snacks to keep you fueled for the action-packed games ahead. Grab your lasers and let the excitement begin! Doors open at 5:30pm sharp, and registered teens should meet in the library's courtyard.

Join us for an Arts & Crafts Supply Swap! Do you have extra, unused, or gently used art supplies gathering dust? Are you an artist in need of materials for your next project? This casual, drop-in event is the perfect opportunity to exchange supplies with fellow creatives and connect with other artists and crafters in your community! Wondering what to bring? Here are some examples: canvases, paints, fabric, beads, writing utensils, yarn, clay, paper, etc. The following materials WILL NOT be accepted: broken, dried-out supplies, solvents or other toxic chemicals, any AV equipment, sewing machines, lumber, home repair supplies. If you have any questions about whether we will be able to accept your supplies, or if you would like to drop your contributions off ahead of time, please contact Library Assistant Seth at sthill@waterloopubliclibrary.org.

We're hosting a Manga club for teens! We'll talk about our favorite series, favorite characters, and enjoy some fun treats, including snacks from a monthly Snack Box subscription. Don't see a series in our collection that you think we should have? We'll also talk about making suggestions for what the library should order so others can check them out and enjoy! Whether you're a seasoned reader or new to Manga, we've saved a spot for you!

The Well Read Club

If you're looking to broaden your reading horizons, have we got the book club for you! The Well Read Club meets virtually from 6pm-7pm every month to discuss a selected fiction or nonfiction title. We'll read anything and everything!

Battle of the Books Book Club

Get ready for Battle of the Books! Join us on the third Tuesday of each month to hang out and chat about selected titles from the 2024-2025 Battle of the Books list.
