If you have a group of friends who can’t agree on whether beer or wine is better, we have just the thing. The 12th annual Forks, Corks and Kegs: Food, Wine and Beer Festival is April 11-12, 2025, across Deadwood.

Deep Talks: An Update on America’s Underground Lab from Mike Headley

Mike Headley, Executive Director of the South Dakota Science and Technology Authority and Laboratory Director at SURF, SURF Chief Operations Officer Wendy Straub, and Industrial Radio and Controls Technician Dale Curran will provide updates on SURF at this month’s Deep Talks presentation. 

It is free to attend. 


Lenten Fish Fry

The Kiwanis Club of Lead Deadwood will host a Lenten Fish Fry on April 11, 2025, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Christian Ministry Center in Lead. There will be different types of fish, appetizers, salads, desserts and drinks. 

LEGO Contest

To quote “The LEGO Movie” protagonist ​​Emmet Brickowski, “everything is awesome” at the Lead Deadwood Arts Center in April. The center is sponsoring its 21st annual free LEGO Contest for youth and adults on April 25, 2025 at Lead Deadwood High School. It is free to enter. 



Patsy’s Day

Patsy’s Day is on April 26 at the Adams House in Deadwood. This is an annual fundraiser that celebrates Patsy, the beloved terrier of William Emery Adams. Guests who make a donation of a pet product will receive free admission to the Adams House. All donations will go to the Twin City Animal Shelter in Lead. For more information, call 605-578-3724. 


Gold Rush Burger Battle

The Gold Rush Burger Battle is a collaborative competition hosted by the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau and the Lead Area Chamber of Commerce.

April Homestake History: Largest Gold Mine in the World. Lead, S.D


Throughout 2025, we’ll showcase the Homestake Mining Company, a cornerstone of our local heritage. This month’s featured photo shows us a large group of Homestake Mining Company Employees on the 1,700-foot level.
