1 Big Thing: The top 3 most desired lab floor features:
The top 3 most desired features in a laboratory floor are: Durability and Resistance; Safety Features; and Chemical Storage and Handling.
Why it matters
Durability and Resistance – It goes without saying that lab floors should be durable, non-porous, and resistant to various substances such as chemicals, moisture, oil, grease, and biocides. Yet being able to withstand thermal shock, impact, and abrasion is also important.
Safety Features – Slip resistance, hygiene and, when needed, ESD rank right up there. In a lab setting, you also want a floor that’s easy to clean and maintain to prevent the spread of germs and contaminants.
Chemical Storage and Handling - Lab floors should be designed with chemical storage and handling in mind. This includes providing adequate storage space for chemicals, having a sound ventilation system, and ensuring that the floor can withstand chemical spills and cleaning.
Going deeper
Those three are a bit of a generality. Different labs have different needs and priority. What’s important to your lab?
