About:
Habitat for Humanity (HFH) believes that housing is a basic right and everyone should have the ability to have an affordable and safe place to call home. HFH partners with families, offering them the opportunity to purchase a brand-new Habitat for Humanity home, which they help build, with an affordable mortgage.
In all cases, the home is purchased for a 0% interest mortgage rate. To qualify, partner families must have an income between 30% and 60% of the community median income. They must also volunteer a minimum of 275 hours to help build Habitat homes for other families and take 60 hours of educational classes to prepare them for home ownership. HFH is entering 40-years of serving the Greater Dayton community - and in that time have built and sold over 400 homes.
Dave Mauch, HFH, Development Director said, “We are grateful for the grant from Dayton Workforce Partnerships (DWP) for our ‘Critical Repair/Aging in Place’ program. Through this initiative we help senior citizens to remain safe and secure in their homes by providing a onetime critical repair such as replacing a roof, repairing a heating system, installing a mobility ramp, etc. These one-time repairs allow seniors to stay in their home, help stabilize neighborhoods and keep houses from becoming vacant. Our sincere thanks to Ron and Doris Adler and the DWP board of directors for supporting this important program for seniors.”
