Government Shutdown: What Physicians Need to Know

During the federal government shutdown, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is operating with reduced staffing, with 47% of its workforce furloughed. As a result, slowdowns and suspensions can be expected of agency activities such as facility surveys, policy development, contract oversight, outreach, and beneficiary casework.

Trump Administration Extinguishes Federal Noncompete Rule

On Sept. 5, 2025, the Trump Administration abandoned the defense of the federal noncompete ban, thereby killing the rule. The rule, if implemented, would have banned most noncompete agreements from employment contracts. Noncompete agreements for new employees would have been prohibited and existing noncompete agreements would have been allowed only for senior executives.

PAMED Supports Safeguards to Vaccine Access and Public Health in Pennsylvania

This week, PAMED Vice President Edward P. Balaban, DO, FACP, FASCO joined the governor's office at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to advocate for vaccines and other evidence-based practices to protect public health. As federal guidelines evolve, PAMED supports legislative measures that require private insurers and Medicaid to cover FDA-approved vaccines recommended by leading medical societies. 

PAMED Supports SB 125 to Restore Fairness in Medical Malpractice Venue Selection

Earlier this week Senator Cris Dush (Cameron County) introduced Senate Bill (SB) 125. SB 125 is a Joint Resolution to provide amendments to the Pennsylvania Constitution to give the Pennsylvania General Assembly the authority to legislate venue and pass laws that can return common sense to venue selection in Pennsylvania.

If youโ€™re looking to make any amendments to a resolution during business at the HOD, please complete the long amendment form to have your wording ready should House Business call for you to propose the amendment.
