Meet Xavier: Birthday Hero! š
This month, we were deeply moved by Xavier, who chose to celebrate his birthday by asking friends to bring donations for NCAL instead of gifts.
He and his friends got to meet Jackpot and our adoptable cats, and their kindness brought so much joy to the shelter.
Thank you, Xavierāyouāre an inspiration!

Helping More Local Animals Every Day
In May, we saw a significant increase in local need:
-
17 owner surrenders (double the number from the same period last year)
-
6 local strays brought in
- Despite limited space, we still managed to welcome 13 animals from our Southern rescue partners, thanks to your support.
This growing local demand makes your contributions more vital than ever. Here are two of our local feline friends patiently waiting for you.

Say hello to Sven, a senior sweetheart with a heart full of love and the softest fur youāll ever pet. He adores belly rubs, attention, and cozy companionship. Sven is looking for a forever home where he can relax and enjoy his golden years with a loving family by his side.
Great with children and other cats, Sven would thrive in a dog-free home filled with affection and calm.

Quiet and gentle, Xander came to NCAL after being found abandoned with a few other cats. He's still adjusting to shelter life and tends to be a bit reservedābut with time, patience, and a calm home, heās sure to blossom. Xander enjoys the company of other cats and would love a peaceful environment where he can feel safe and loved.
Looking for a sweet companion who just needs a little time? Xander might be your guy.
