New Year, New News!
In times of tumult, healing and hope, Rehearsal for Life looks to our guiding principle, to use theatre for social justice, as a beacon. In and outside of our virtual classrooms, RFL is engaging deeply with our community in new collaborations with the Parents / Professional Advocacy League and Boston Camera Club.

We're also excited to partner with Wheelock Family Theatre to offer a two-day, elementary-level masterclass on Theatre for Social Justice at the end of February — register here!
Banned in Boston: April Fools' Edition!
Our annual fundraising event Banned in Boston takes the VIRTUAL stage on (when else?): April 1, 2021! What’s in store for our motley crew of characters? In the hands of head writer FAITH SOLOWAY (of Transparent fame) and featuring all our favorite April fools (including special guest star STEPHEN COLBERT), nothing could POSSIBLY go wrong — right?! Our madcap musical revue supports our Urban Improv program. Stay updated at
Banned in Boston Head Writer/Scorer, RFL Board Member & Expert Grimacer Faith Soloway.

Urban Improv: Welcome Back!
A new semester has begun for our BPS partner schools — and our 5th- and 7th-graders are as happy to see us as we are to see them! Below, read some students’ hand-typed reactions to the return of the familiar faces in our Urban Improv ensemble. Here’s to a season of learning and growing together!
Fifth-grade students share their thoughts about the first day of Urban Improv.
Plus, RFL's Resident Scholar Holly Tarnower presents an interview with Urban Improv Music Directors Kevin Madison and Cooper Evello — read along in our blog, Life Unscripted.

The teen leaders in our afterschool program are hard at work, meeting every week to cooperatively devise their virtual performance on March 26, 2021, which will feature original songs, choreography, rap, spoken word and more.

Bring RFL’s team of teaching artists into your school or community to build connections and enhance dialogue on difficult issues — virtually!
From Insight to Action
Rehearsal for Life continues the work towards mindfulness, anti-racism and decolonization, both with our students and internally as a community. As we reflect on new curriculum addressing microaggressions, we will continue to share out resonant touchpoints. We hope these resources can help open dialogue among family and loved ones about how language, resources and white-centering affects us all.
