Working with Municipalities on Physician Shortage

Earlier this week, Doctors Manitoba attended the annual conference for the Association of Manitoba Municipalities. The topic was working together to recruit and retain physicians in rural and northern communities.

New Program Focuses on Culturally Safe Care

🆕 Health care workers have a new opportunity to deepen their skills in Indigenous cultural safety through Giga mino ganawenimaag Anishinaabeg (We Will Take Good Care of the People). The training program was developed by Ongomiizwin, the Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing in UM’s Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.

THE DETAILS: Tickets start at $40 plus fees, with more expensive but still discounted options available in the lower bowl. The event is billed as an appreciation for emergency services workers, but it is open to physicians and medical learners regardless of your specialty or place of work.

Nominate a Deserving Doc!


Our annual awards are a highlight of the year for Doctors Manitoba and our members, celebrating the human, courageous and committed physicians dedicated to advancing the medical profession and improving care for their patients. The awards are the highest honour bestowed upon physicians by physicians.


The deadline to receive nominations is December 15, 2024.

The Hippocratic High Notes Winter Concert 

The first female physician choir in Winnipeg is having a mini concert on Sunday the 8th of December at 2pm at the Bethel Mennonite Church at 45 Stafford street in Winnipeg. The concert is free, but donations of non-perishable food items are encouraged and appreciated.

CBTm for Physicians and Medical Learners

Learn the skills that can help you manage your mood better and cope with high levels of worry.


Choose the course option that best fits your scheduling and learning needs:

  1. A set of five 90-minute facilitator-led Zoom classes. The next set of zoom classes will be Tuesdays January 14 to February 11, 2025, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  2. A set of 10 90-minute facilitator-led Zoom classes. The next set of Zoom classes will be Tuesdays March 4 to May 6, 2025, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  3. An online self-directed course with five modules (mirroring the facilitator-led classes but offering more scheduling flexibility)
