End of Year Donations

Like many non-profits, the Kansas Aviation Museum had to closed its doors for several months in 2020. On top of that, we had to cancel our biggest events and fundraisers including Play on a Plane, Honor Awards and the Gala.

We have sent out our End of Year Donation letters and are just over 1/2 way to our $10,000 goal. This is where we need your help. For every donation made over $200, you will receive a print of the photo above, titled "Kansas Aviation Museum- Staggerwing" drawn by Harold Walter.

If we reach our $10,000 goal, we will offer a Free Day to the community this upcoming spring.

A Word in Edgewise with Tim Norton

It has certainly been an interesting year in the life of the Museum. And most definitely a unique time in our community and the world. I hope everyone has managed to stay safe and healthy.

My message this month is one of hope and resilience and tenacity and forward-thinking.

I am sure many of you have observed these same ideals as you have maneuvered the pitfalls of the pandemic and the changes in our daily lives that have been generated by it.

Considering all the obstacles thrown at the Museum and despite weeks totally shutdown and attendance diminished and Venue rental gatherings limited, this small dedicated Museum staff has managed to stay focused on the mission and remain dedicated to moving ahead on facility upgrades, new exhibit creation, enhanced guest experiences, virtual education offerings and so much more. I am encouraged with the outlook for 2021 and am inspired by the resolve of the staff to plow ahead and achieve goals that are stretchy even in normal times...Continue Reading

Coming to KAM in 2021!

It's official, we will be displaying 2 new aircraft in our Vintage Aircraft room. The first one has been in restoration for about 2 years, Blanche Noyes' C-37. Blanche was an air racer in the late 1920s and 1930s. She placed 4th in 1929 Air Race which flew through Wichita.

The second aircraft we will display is on loan from the the 99s Museum of Women Pilots. It is a Travel Air that was owned by Louise Thaden. This plane won the 1929 Air Race. It will be on display this spring.

Free Little Aviators

Thanks to the generosity of Wells Aircraft, Little Aviators has been free to guests since the end of October. They agreed to sponsor Little Aviators though the end of 2020.

All kiddos ages 1-12 plus one adult per child get in Free! Every Friday between 10 am- Noon, and hang around the rest of the day!
