Is it time to replace your Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi enables you to use your computing devices wirelessly throughout your home. If your Wi-Fi router or internet gateway (provided by your internet provider) is over 5 years old, it’s time to replace it with newer, more secure technology.

In the past year  security flaws have been found in the Wi-Fi protocol  that’s used in all routers and gateways, and patches have been released as firmware updates for only the newest routers manufactured in the past few years.

A benefit of replacing your Wi-Fi not only fixes current known security vulnerabilities, a new Wi-Fi router can increase the range and reliability of your Wi-Fi. The latest mesh networking technology can blanket your home in wireless coverage using 2 or more linked Wi-Fi radios.

You may have to contact your internet service provider to have your Wi-Fi updated. To find out if you need new Wi-Fi read more...
Despite years of warnings about tech support scams, people still falling victim
For several years we’ve been warning people about tech support scams where someone claiming to be from Microsoft, your internet service provider or computer manufacturer calls to inform you that your computer is in danger and filled with viruses or errors, or that your Windows license has expired. Despite the warnings, people are still falling for these scams.

More recently, In a  shady companies began advertising  on Google, Yahoo, Bing and other websites targeting search terms such as “HP tech support number” in hopes that vulnerable computer users would call them. After calling the number the representative would say that in order to help with the problem they would need to remote access to the computer.  See examples in this article . Then just like the unsolicited calls from “Microsoft” above, you are lead to believe that your computer is infected.

Yet another recent scam will display an error message from a phony program or website displaying a phone number to call for support. This is yet another attempt to trick people into believing that they need to pay for made-up computer problems.

Don't fall victim to tech support scams. Please read more , and watch the video below.
