It’s time to start thinking about knocking some things off of your bucket list for 2025, and we have some suggestions that you can do right here in the heart of Maine!
If you want to get outside and experience the best of Maine, we’re here waiting for you. Our small towns, outdoor communities, and acess to seemingly unlimited pristine nature are calling your name. Can you hear it?
We have six ideas for how you can make the most of your vacation time in 2025…
1. Go camping! The Maine Highlands is home to three beautiful state parks and numerous privately owned campgrounds. From tents to RV’s, we’ve got a spot for you. Find more info here.
2. Go hiking! The photo in the video below is from Borestone Mountain in Monson. It’s a challenging enough hike that the views from the top are absolutely worth it! Bonus: stop in to the Monson General Store and grab a sandwich and snacks to enjoy at the summit.
3. Eat something delicious! Check out one of the many dining spots in the greater Bangor region. The vast majority of our restaurants are not chain establishments. Try somethign new that you literally can’t get anywhere else.
4. Find a waterfall! There are dozens and dozens of waterfalls in The Maine Highlands region. The one pictured here is Kathadin Stream Falls in Millinocket. You’ll likely have to hike a bit to find the waterfall, but the journey is half the fun. Find more info on our waterfalls here.
5. Leaf peep! You don’t have to climb a mountain to take in the fall foliage. There are plenty of trails in The Maine Highlands where you can close to nature without lacing up your boots.
6. Ride the Steamship Katahdin! Discover Moosehead Lake in a unique way — aboard a historic steamship!
