Milestones and New Beginnings

Greetings!

I am so excited to share our Milestones and New Beginnings for 2026!

Milestone #1: 50 Years of Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is celebrating a big anniversary! Fifty years ago, on September 24, 1976, the organization began with a bold idea: a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Today, Habitat builds homes in all 50 states and in more than 60 countries around the world. Since it began, Habitat has helped build over one million homes and has supported more than 62 million people.

Milestone #2: 25 Years of Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County

Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County is also celebrating a special milestone. Our local affiliate was founded 25 years ago, on February 16, 2001, to help families in Carroll County build better lives through safe and affordable housing. Since then, we have helped hundreds of people through our Homeownership and Critical Home Repair Programs, making a lasting difference in our community.

Please stay tuned this year as we celebrate these milestones with special events and opportunities to serve.

New Beginnings for 2026

Coming Soon! Our new Financial Literacy Program is on the way. This program will help community members and future homebuyers learn how smart credit choices can build strong financial futures and open the door to homeownership.

Milestone #3: A New Neighborhood Is on the Way

We are excited to begin building a new Habitat neighborhood in Westminster that will provide affordable homes for more than 28 families. While building a neighborhood takes time, the result will be a welcoming, supportive community that helps families grow and thrive for generations.

And Maybe Our Biggest Milestone & New Beginning....

After 36 years with Verizon, eight years with HFHCC, and much consideration I have decided to fully retire. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Habitat and will cherish every memory, from each family we have served, to our incredible supporters, volunteers, staff, and board. You have touched my heart with your hard work and desire to serve others. I am so appreciative of these past eight years and all that we have accomplished together.

I am incredibly excited to welcome Amy Larocque-Rumano as the new Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County! Amy brings to Habitat an impressive nonprofit career which includes Catholic Relief Services, where she served in Tanzania and Malawi, The School Sisters of Notre Dame, and most recently with the St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center. I look forward to the leadership, knowledge and excitement that Amy will bring to our affiliate. Please join me in welcoming Amy and supporting her during these times of transition. We are so grateful for your support. It’s because of you that we can celebrate these milestones and start new projects that will make a real difference in our community.

Sincerely,

Scott
