Behind the Curtain

Books
Still Writing is a book I read a few years ago and it resonated with me so thoroughly that I purchased a copy. There aren't many books on writing I keep. Still Writing is one of the few. After re-reading the book recently, I understand how deeply this book effected me. Reading the preface again is an eye opener because everything Dani Shapiro wrote is exactly how I feel about the art of writing. Did she write the book with me in mind? Of course not, but it sure feels that way.

Onto the screen
Grand Canyon is a movie directed by Lawrence Kasdan. Kevin Kline’s character breaks down Los Angelos after attending an event. He gets hopelessly lost and Danny Glover’s character comes to Kevin’s rescue as a tow truck driver.
Grand Canyon tells the story of that fateful meeting and expands on it. The entire story revolves around the fact that everything happens for a reason. And you begin to see this play out over and over.
It’s why Grand Canyon resonates so deeply with me. I see the world the same way.  In fact, if you go back and read some of what I have written, I’m sure you will find the same theme running through my work.

Finally, an update on my own writing:

Tales from the Terrace, my fifth book is now about halfway to fifty thousand words, my absolute minimum for publication. My goal is to have it complete by February 2023 at the latest so I can have two books published in October 2023. If I keep at the same pace, I should have no problem reaching that goal. I will keep everyone updated each month.
