5 Big Successes from the Capitol!

The Advocate Pushes Against Life

Dear Benjamin,

That's a wrap! The 2024 legislative session was a big successful for moms and babies! We are thrilled to report that, with your support, we passed FIVE pro-life bills, added $4 million dollars in state funds for pregnancy centers, and blocked dangerous pro-abortion bills. You can see our full report on our website, but here's a quick look at what we did together:

✅ gave law enforcement the tools needed to prosecute those who force women to undergo abortions through abortion pills. (ACT 246) Read the facts about this law & see photos from the signing ceremony with Gov. Landry!

✅ provided support to pregnant moms and their babies unrestricted by the Biden administration’s attacks on pregnancy centers (ACT 329) and allocated $4 million to the state budget for pregnancy resource centers (HB 1).

✅ empowered families facing a tragic prenatal diagnosis with the information they need to care for their babies before and after delivery. (ACT 332)

✅ helped educate Louisianans on the benefits of infant adoption and connect birth moms with resources. (SB 312, awaiting Governor's signature)

✅ expanded placement options for Safe Haven Baby Boxes to 24/7 fire stations. (HB 891, awaiting Governor's signature)

Just as much effort went into stopping bills that would have destroyed our strong pro-life protections. This session, our team worked hard to stop bills that would have:

🛑 made abortion legal at any time and for any reason. (HB 245)

🛑created exceptions in our abortion restrictions making it easier for abusers to harm women and girls and go unpunished. (HB 164)

🛑diminish the strength of our laws under the false pretense of providing clarity. (HB 293)

Our successes this session were critical to protecting life, helping moms, and expanding adoption. We could not have accomplished these successes without YOUR support!

With these successes has come heavy opposition from the media and the pro-abortion industry who prefer abortion to be legal with no questions asked.

Unfortunately, in yet another example of pro-abortion bias from The Advocate, the paper ran a front-page article written by Emily Woodruff highlighting data from a new report from the pro-abortion American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC).

The AAMC is a pro-abortion organization and even published a press release of disapproval after the Dobbs v. Jackson's decision in 2022. Their published report lacks some of the credentials needed to draw a conclusion, such as credible, clear, insightful, and irrefutable evidence. The AAMC report alleges that senior medical school students are looking elsewhere for residency programs in states where abortion access is available.

It is clear from the article, and from past articles that The Advocate has no interest in providing fair reporting on abortion in Louisiana. We encourage you to email their editor now to express your frustration!
