PRINCIPAL'S LETTER

A Bird is the Word

Dear Friends,

This morning, as I walked up to the glass front door to get in the building, I saw a bird flying toward me. But this bird was not outside, where I would venture to say birds belong, but IN the school, and apparently looking for a way to rejoin nature. Mrs. Johnson was hurrying down the hallway in my direction, with Mrs. Wheeler in front of her. Apparently our feathered friend had come in through a first grade window, and was making a good show of his visit to Saint Patrick Catholic School.

Now, I'm not afraid of much, but things flying at my face have given me the willies since a bat crashed into the side of my head when I was nine years old. Go ahead and keep that traumatic nature backstory in mind, when I share that I ducked and dodged like a cowardly boxer to work my way into the building. Felipe Uc quickly came to the rescue (more of the frenzied women than the confused bird) and gently shooed the little guy out of another open window, safe and happy to be flying free again.

The day has basically been one of me replicating a lot of what that little bird must have been feeling. It has offered many adventures from the start. We did the Great Shakeout Earthquake Drill, dealt with injuries, bellyaches, social problems, discipline issues, had our virtual accreditation pre-visit with the WCEA team, and more. As that bird may have done, sometimes I think, "What have I gotten myself into?"

That question never stays in mind long, because there are so many, many more good things than difficult or challenging things about being here, and about life in general. And, there is true comfort in knowing that there is always God's gentle hand, to shoo away our doubts, to leave us safe, happy, and free to appreciate all that is wonderful.

Thank you for being here,

Barbara Bolaños

Principal

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your generous support of Annual Fund 24. Our theme is "We are called," and we called to thank those of you who have already given, and we called others to remind them to prayerfully discern how they are being called to support Catholic Education.

Our goal is $250,000 and 100% participation by October 31. We have raised $127,000, with 44% of school families participating.

Please consider a monthly recurring donation of $25, which becomes $300 after one year—all gifts are needed, regardless of the size, or become a Sustainers' Club member by allowing your recurring donation to convert automatically towards the following year's fund by leaving the end date empty.

The Annual Fund Participation Contest continues. The first class to reach 100% participation wins a pizza party. Which class will celebrate 100% participation with a pizza party? You can check the chart below for current standings and click on it for better readability. Mrs. Richard's Kindergarten class is still in the lead, with Mrs. Coovert's 3rd grade class now following close behind. Good luck.

If you would like to learn more, you can watch our Annual Fund 24 appeal video.

With love,

STEWARDSHIP PLEDGE

Pushpay — New Parish Online Giving Platform

Thank you for your consistent giving to our parish. We are grateful for your continued generosity and are excited to announce a new way to give. We value our parish community and want to ensure everyone knows about our new giving platform.

We are moving away from Our Sunday Visitor (OSV) Online Giving and EFT services. We have chosen to contract with Pushpay. We strive to be good stewards of your financial gifts and believe the significantly lower processing fees offered through Pushpay will allow your gift of treasure to support our parishes' mission further. As always, security is a top priority.

We aim to complete this transition process to Pushpay by November 1, so we need your help moving your current OSV Online Giving and EFT gifts.

Online Giving

If you currently donate online (via OSV), please click on the INSTRUCTIONS button below to set up your recurring gift through Pushpay and cancel your donation through OSV.

EFT

If you currently donate through EFT (donations processed via the Parish Office at Saint Patrick Parish), please follow the instructions below to set up your recurring gift through Pushpay. Then, email Michelle Carpenter to stop your EFT donations.

Envelopes

If you currently donate using envelopes at Mass, please consider donating online and setting up an account in Pushpay by clicking the PUSHPAY button below.

We now know that COVID-19 is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Understanding how to live our lives while keeping ourselves, loved ones, and the community as safe as possible is essential. How can we do that? By using all the tools we've learned so far: getting vaccinated and boosted, getting tested and staying home if sick or exposed, wearing a mask in crowds, and keeping our distance.

Read the latest guidance on COVID-19. Help prevent the spread of the virus to others in your home, our school, and our community by using the calculator to help determine quarantine requirements.

Journey of Faith: Embracing Grace, Knowledge, and Community
