As we reach the end of the year, I’ve been thinking a lot about what this community has made possible.
This has been a year of upheaval and change—no sense sugar-coating it—but it has also been a year where we witnessed some of the most profound healing and resilience I’ve ever seen. Through every hard moment, your kindness has kept us going.
When I look back on 2025, it’s not the challenges I remember. It’s the animals whose lives you touched—many of whom came to us in shockingly bad shape, clinging to their last bit of hope.
The Stories That Define Our Why
I think of Ozzie, who arrived emaciated and dehydrated, with both back legs run over by a car. Both of his legs were shattered. He could barely lift his head. The fact that he is alive is nothing short of a miracle. He needed two new feet! Stay tuned for a video of him running with his prosthetic leg! His care required more than $35,000 in emergency surgery, hospitalization, and months of aftercare—but today, Ozzie is home. He’s curled up on the couch with one of our own supporters, surrounded by love, and living alongside a canine brother and sister who adore him.
I think of Atreyu, who spent his first weeks hiding, too terrified to make eye contact. A dog who had been failed by every human before us. He was hit by a car in No California and then left with broken bones to heal on his own, without any intervention—until we were called. We were told he would be euthanized so we arranged immediate transport to LA. Atreyu’s medical care, and rehabilitation totaled over $20,000, but it was so worth it! Today, he is living the life he always deserved: walking on the beach every day with his dad, soaking up the sunshine, and finally knowing he is safe. Dad has been fully training him to be a protection dog and he loves it! The goofy broken puppy is now a big, strong rock star!
I think of Kobe, whose femur fracture was so severe the shelter wanted to put him down. We got the call and texted the best bone surgeon in California who told us he was fixable! But wow it was a lot! He endured major orthopedic surgery, and months of rehab (hello underwater treadmill!) with medical and aftercare costs reaching nearly $40,000. Today, Kobe is living a true life of luxury—spoiled, adored, and cherished by his dad exactly the way he should be. And let's be honest, half the staff wanted to be adopted by his new dad as well!
And then there are Donnie, Jett, Mia, Phineas, Ryder, Pebbles, Pelucha, Savannah, Peaches, and so many others—dogs who were never given a chance until they landed with us.
These were not easy cases. Many were some of the worst we’ve seen. But these animals—and the futures you helped make possible—are the reason this Foundation exists.
What Happens Now?
Many of you have asked what will happen now that the Two Hands Four Paws clinic has closed. Here is what matters most:
The Foundation is not closing.
Our work continues.
Our mission continues.
The physical space may change, but the heart of this organization—the part that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes animals who would otherwise be forgotten—remains strong. Wherever we land next, the Foundation will be ready to help the next dog who needs us.
đź’š From the Bottom of Our Hearts
To everyone who has supported us this year: thank you.
You have celebrated the wins, cried through the hard days, opened your homes, shared our stories, and reminded us that compassion still leads the way. You are the reason these animals are alive today.
From all of us at the Two Hands Four Paws Foundation, we wish you a peaceful, warm, and hope-filled start to the new year. We can’t wait to share the next group of dogs whose lives you’ll help transform in 2026.
