Newsroom to Newsroom: How Germany and the U.S.

Are Adopting AI Differently — and Why It Matters

Trust, Technology & Transatlantic Journalism

What German and U.S. Newsrooms Reveal About the Future of AI

From Berlin to Miami: A Comparative Look at AI in the American and German Press

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how news is researched, produced, presented — and even how we decide what information to trust.

But are American and German newsrooms approaching this transformation in the same way?

Join the German American Business Chamber of South Florida for a timely transatlantic conversation examining AI, journalism, media neutrality and public trust from both sides of the Atlantic.

🇺🇸 Constance Jones, NBC6 Miami Anchor, will bring the U.S. media perspective, including how American newsrooms are integrating AI into their daily operations and navigating the opportunities and challenges that come with it.

🇩🇪 German Consul General Christofer Burger will offer the German perspective and explore a media landscape shaped by different regulations, journalistic traditions and Germany’s distinctive publicly funded broadcasting system.

AI is only part of the conversation.

How is AI-generated content already being used in newsrooms?

Where should regulation begin — and where could it go too far?

How do journalists preserve editorial independence and neutrality in an increasingly polarized environment?

How does Germany's public broadcasting model influence the discussion around independence, accountability and trust?

And ultimately: Who — and what — can audiences still trust?

The discussion will be followed by a lively audience Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with our special guests.

🎨 And the evening continues inside the Bakehouse…

Following the discussion, guests will be invited to experience a special guided tour of the Bakehouse Art Complex.

The Bakehouse team will take our guests through the complex, its galleries and working artist spaces, offering a closer look at the work being created there. Several Bakehouse artists will be present, making this a unique opportunity to meet the artists and discover their work in person.

And, of course, there will be plenty of time to connect and network over German food and drinks. 🇩🇪🥂

NBC 6 Miami anchor Constance Jones is a German-American journalist who spent last fall in Germany and Brussels as part of the RIAS Berlin Kommission Fellowship program, embedded in newsrooms navigating journalism's shift toward artificial intelligence.

Her fellowship placement at WELT TV — one of Germany's leading commercial broadcasters — gave her a front-row seat to a newsroom aggressively adopting U.S.-style production methods, including the introduction of AI news avatars into live broadcasts. Constance also holds a master's degree from Florida International University, where her recent research examined AI adoption inside American newsrooms. This talk brings both experiences together for a rare transatlantic comparison.
