FAST: Our sole mission is a cure

Hey Cure.

It’s now September, and our annual Gala is less than three months away! We can’t wait to see the FAST community all together in Florida and celebrate the amazing progress we’ve made over the past year.

This week's newsletter has some exciting opportunities to attend the Gala, so we'll let you get right to it. Enjoy!

If you have updates you would like to be included in next week’s newsletter, please email us at info@cureangelman.org.

Research Update: What is ABOM and why does it matter?

You may know what the ABOM is: The Angelman Syndrome Biomarker and Outcome Measure Consortium (ABOM).

But do you know why it matters? Why FAST has invested over $2M into its acceleration?

The ABOM is a consortium that brings together hundreds of members including pharmaceutical companies, clinicians, translational research teams, and patient advocacy groups, in order to advance endpoints and biomarkers, which are required to accurately test drugs in clinical trials.

The ABOM Consortium is made up of a team of over 300 people that have interest in advancing the regulatory science to understand, develop, test and validate different tools that can assess individuals living with Angelman syndrome in a way that can get at what is both meaningful and measurable in their lives.

On July 31, 2022, the steering committee came together in person in Austin, Texas, prior to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation Conference, to ensure that we were advancing these endpoints and aligned on goals, objectives and deliverables for 2022, of which the science and results will be presented in person on December 1, 2022 the day prior to the FAST Global Science Summit.

Family Spotlight: Cutler Family Chari-Tee event

The Cutler family

FAST would like to extend a huge thank you to Jennifer and Matthew Cutler and their team of volunteers for another incredible Charlie’s Angels Chari-Tee event on August 19th at Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel, New Jersey in honor of their beautiful daughter Charlie. The event was a huge success, raising over $47,000 in support of FAST!

After the event, Jennifer said, “It was a beautiful day supporting Charlie, raising awareness for Angelman syndrome and most importantly, raising money for FAST! Having a daughter with a disability creates so much noise in our life and makes it extra challenging and isolating. This day truly lifts us up and motivates us to do as much as we can to support, advocate and fight for our beautiful Charlie. Her future is so bright!”

We really appreciate the Cutler family (and countless others in our community) helping FAST continue to be the leader in funding Angelman syndrome research. You can support the Cutlers by giving at www.Charlies-angels.org.
