The Ann Storck Scoop

Good News Lives Here.

The Happiest Highlights

A Power of Love Masterpiece! 🎨

The ASC Art Show was full of love featuring a year's worth of art and music created by the individuals in the ASC Expressive Arts Program and friends at Victory Living Program. This program is funded by the Taft Foundation and fueled by the energy of our phenomenal, dynamic art and music duo, Greer and Lyndall. This event was such a testament to what the Ann Storck Center is at its core. A place for individuals of all ages and abilities to express themselves and show their voices to the world.

Thank you again to the Taft Foundation and everyone who played a part in making this night one for the books.

ConGRADultaions to the Pre-K and 5th Grade graduates of the Ann Storck Center's All Heart Learning Academy! We can't wait to see the places you'll go and the progress you will continue making after reaching this important milestone.

Students like Alexandria have made huge strides throughout their time at ASC. With individualized on-site therapy, she has been able to significantly improve her independence and confidence while navigating the world around her. Now, Alexandria zooms around the playground with her friends with confidence.

Newsworthy Spikes & Sets! 🏐🌞

The 40th Annual All Heart Volleyball Challenge was totally rad! More than 130 players hit the sand to support ASC, making this milestone tournament one to remember, and even catching the attention of WPLG Local 10 (view our segment here)!

Over four decades, this event has become more than a volleyball tournament. It's a beachside reunion of friends, families, and supporters who come together year after year to champion children and adults with developmental disabilities. That kind of community is what makes this event so special.

None of this could have been made possible without the generous support of our sponsors:

TDON, CHEW, Park Shore Pharmacon, Rick Case Automotive Group, Beach House, Oceanic, Goliath Auto Transport, Lucky Fish, Valor Construction Management, Lowe's, Whole Foods, Jet's Pizza, LaCroix, Imperial Dade, Gulf Stream Brewing, Progressive Plastering, Inc., Kids of Love, Florida Insurance Trust, RNDC, and The Miami Marlins.

Kicking off a season of sunshine!

The Fort Lauderdale Debutantes visited ASC to kick off our 3rd Annual partnership season with a hands-on sensitivity training led by our therapy team. Through hands-on simulations, the girls gained a deeper understanding of some of the challenges faced by individuals with developmental disabilities, including:

β€’ Visual impairments

β€’ Muscle contractures

β€’ Differences in everyday tasks like eating, walking, and picking up small objects

Interested in bringing this training to your company or organization? Email us!

These experiences highlight the importance of individualized therapy strategies that help build independence, confidence, and quality of life for the children and adults we serve.

We can't wait to continue the season with gardening volunteer days, supplies collections, and so much more! πŸ¦‹

M.O.S.T (Maximizing Out Of School Time)

ο»ΏSummer Camp

How can we create a fun foodie experience for our friends and family?

The MOST (Maximizing Out of School Time) Summer Camp, funded by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County, offers hands-on STEM experiences for children, combining fun, learning, and interactive exploration of science and technology. β˜€οΈ We are grateful for this partnership and the resources to provide these services to the community.

This year’s MOST educational theme is: How can we create a fun foodie experience for our friends and family? 🍳πŸ₯— Starting with kitchen basics and food safety campers will explore different food-based topics each week like manners and etiquette, food around the world, menu planning, and healthy eating, preparing them to tackle the culinary world!

Stay tuned all summer to see the progress as the MOST Campers become chefs. It's a world of possibility. You never know - they might get good enough to be at Celebrity Chefs 2027! πŸ˜‰

Meet Joanna Robertson, Social Services Coordinator🀝

The Heart Behind the Mission πŸ’›

At Ann Storck Center, meaningful support often begins with a caring conversation. As the ASC Social Services Coordinator, Joanna Robertson helps individuals and families navigate some of life's most important transitions, providing guidance, resources, and reassurance every step of the way.

From coordinating residential placements and Medicaid services, to helping families understand available supports, Joanna is often a trusted source of comfort during what can be an emotional and overwhelming process. Her dedication helps families feel confident that their loved ones are receiving the care, opportunities, and sense of belonging they deserve.

One recent experience perfectly captured the impact of her work. A resident's mother and sister recently visited their loved one and were overjoyed to see him happy, engaged, and thriving. But what meant the most was when the visit ended, he was excited to return home to his house at ASC. For his family, that simple moment, knowing he felt safe, connected, and truly at home, provided them with invaluable peace of mind.

For nearly two decades, Joanna has built lasting and genuine relationships with the individuals we serve and their families. Her compassion, patience, and unwavering commitment embody the heart of Ann Storck Center's mission. We are grateful for the difference she makes every day and proud to celebrate her dedication to our community. Thank you, Joanna, for making ASC your home!
