Five New Courses Available in NIA's Education Center

Premier Training Subscribers can now access five new courses designed to strengthen transportation safety and small-business risk management.

1. DOT Vehicle & Roadside Inspections: This course covers pre-trip inspection requirements, what to expect during roadside inspections, and how to identify and correct common safety issues.

2. DOT Driver Compliance: This course covers driver qualification requirements, documentation, and Hours-of-Service log completion, along with mandatory vehicle inspection protocols and HAZMAT compliance standards for CMV operations.

3. Safe Vehicle Operations: This course covers how speed impacts vehicle and load performance, safe following distances, and key guidelines for safe turning.

4. Workers' Compensation for Small Construction Businesses: Understand Workers’ Compensation requirements, coverage costs, related insurance policies, and claim management.

5. Insurance Requirements for Small Businesses: Learn which insurance policies are required or recommended and how to determine the appropriate coverage for your business.

NIA's Summer Meetings for Members

The Technical Information Committee meets quarterly and is scheduled to do so virtually on Aug. 17, at 2:00 pm ET. Contact NIA Staff Liaison Kristin DiDomenico for more information. This meeting is open to all NIA membership types. 

The Young Professional Advisory Committee will hold its Summer Virtual Meeting on Aug. 26 at 2:00 pm ET. Contact NIA Staff Liaison Leslie Emery for more information. This meeting is open to members who are 40 years old or younger or who have less than 5 years of experience in the industry.

After you attend a committee meeting, you will be added to the roster and will receive committee updates.

OSHA Safety Update: Safe & Sound Week

OSHA's Safe & Sound Week, Aug. 10–16, 2026, is an opportunity to focus on workplace safety programs and recognize employees’ ongoing commitment to safe work practices. Participating companies can access activities, graphics, flyers, and other resources to help engage employees in identifying hazards and improving safety performance.

Participation is open to organizations of all sizes, and companies that cannot participate during the designated week can select another time that works for their teams.
