Which major museum made over 375,000 images freely available via an open access policy in 2017?

🚨Block Cuts Workforce by Nearly Half With AI Pivot🚨

Block CEO Jack Dorsey announced a major workforce reduction affecting roughly 40 percent of the company’s staff, cutting more than 4,000 jobs as part of a strategic shift toward increased use of artificial intelligence tools to boost efficiency and productivity.

Block, Inc. is a financial technology company that builds tools for payments, banking, and commerce.

It was founded by Jack Dorsey and originally operated as Square before rebranding to Block in 2021 to reflect its broader focus beyond card readers.

The move, posted to X by Dorsey comes even as Block reports strong financial performance and has triggered a more than 20 percent jump in its share price in extended trading.

The announcement has sparked debate about AI’s role in reshaping employment in technology and beyond, with some calling the scale of the cuts unprecedented in recent fintech history.

And in other Tech News...

  • College Board Bans Smart Glasses on SAT Exams

The College Board has updated its test-day rules for the 2025-26 testing year to prohibit smart glasses during SAT and PSAT assessments. Under the new policy, students may not wear any wearable eyewear with computing features, cameras, or connectivity, including smart glasses with internet or AI functions, during the exam. This change takes effect with Spring 2026 administrations and reflects growing concerns that advanced wearable tech could be used to gain unfair assistance or transmit information during high-stakes testing.

  • Google Launches Nano Banana 2, Next-Gen AI Image Model

Google has rolled out Nano Banana 2, a major update to its AI image generation technology designed to deliver faster, higher-quality visuals and advanced editing capabilities. The new model, also called Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, brings improved detail, accurate text rendering inside images, expanded aspect-ratio support including 4K outputs, and greater creative control for users and developers across Google platforms. I'll test this new upgrade with a Cool Tip soon!

Try this Cool AI prompt. Copy and paste to ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot.

"I am looking at a painting by [Insert Artist Name] titled [Insert Work Title].

Can you provide a 3-sentence summary of the historical context of this piece, the specific art movement it belongs to, and one hidden detail or symbol I should look for in the brushwork?"

Today's Cool Tip

Discover Masterpieces in Minutes

Explore museum-quality art through a beautifully curated digital experience that feels more like a gallery stroll than a search engine. The Tenth Muse is a minimalist art discovery site that surfaces iconic and lesser-known masterpieces in an elegant, distraction-free interface. If you enjoy visual inspiration without algorithm overload, this may become your new favorite browser tab.

When was the last time you wandered through a museum without checking your phone?

Now imagine that quiet, contemplative experience distilled into a single web page.

No pop-ups. No comment sections. No trending noise. Just art.

Here's a Cool Tip:  Discover Art with The Tenth Muse.

The Tenth Muse rethinks how we discover visual culture online.

Instead of pushing viral images or commercial galleries, it presents curated works that invite exploration.

It feels intentional.

And that matters in a world where most digital discovery tools are optimized for speed rather than depth.

Feature Explanation

The Tenth Muse is a web-based art discovery platform designed around simplicity and curation.

The interface is deliberately minimal.

Users browse through high-quality images of artwork presented with essential context such as title and artist.

There is no account requirement to explore.

No subscription wall at first glance.

The experience centers on visual immersion rather than engagement metrics.

How it works:

  • You visit the site.
  • Artwork appears in a clean layout.
  • You scroll and explore curated selections.
  • Clicking on a piece surfaces more information about the work and creator.

Why it matters:

  • It removes friction from art discovery.
  • It reduces algorithm bias compared to social media feeds.
  • It supports a slower, more thoughtful exploration model.
  • In short, it restores a sense of intentional browsing that many visual platforms lost years ago.

What You’ll Gain

  • Curated exposure to fine art without social media clutter.
  • Mental reset through visual inspiration.
  • Creative sparks for writing, design, or presentations.
  • Access to global works from a single, lightweight webpage.
