November 2025

Happenings!

Come for the shopping, stay for the fun—and feel extra good knowing every purchase supports Art with a Heart's work! Can’t wait to see you there!

Programming

This month, the Art with a Heart programming branch leaned into the warmth and creativity of late fall. From cozy, autumn-inspired collages and bold, expressive Georgia O’Keeffe–inspired flowers at Calvin Rodwell Elementary/Middle School to expressive gratitude-themed mosaics at Sinai Hospital, our classrooms were alive with color, reflection, and hands-on exploration.

Community Art and Service

November began with the Community Art and Service team installing a large-scale mixed media mural for Richcroft, which provides residential and personal care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Hundreds of hands, including Richcroft clients and staff along with Art with a Heart volunteers and service groups, helped to create all the elements of this stunning mural. Also this month, Art with a Heart continued its annual tradition of working with Johns Hopkins University's FLI students to create a shim mirror that will adorn a space on campus. The team wrapped up the month with a workshop at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where both medical and service professionals came together to work on a beautiful multi-media mural for the hospital's cafeteria.

HeARTworks/HeARTwares

November launched Art with a Heart's new tiered apprenticeship model! The team welcomed five new Product Development Apprentices and celebrated two returning apprentices who advanced to Creative Lead roles. During the month, the apprentices enjoyed expanding their digital design and studio art skills - from greeting card designs to mosaics and a special Watercolor Pigment-Making Workshop with The Walls Project. Come meet the apprentices at the HeARTwares Holiday Open House on December 5th from 5pm to 7pm and shop the wonderful products they have been creating.

The Art of Leadership

In November, Art of Leadership students viewed the Charm City documentary and had the unique opportunity to meet the community leaders featured in the film. Clayton Guyton (“Mr. C”), Ms. Dee, and Walker Gladden, all from the Rose Street Community Center, emphasized the importance of community service, self-reflection, and staying committed to meaningful work. Building on these themes, Cohort 11 made a tangible impact in Howard Park by planting six trees with support from Blue Water Baltimore, Students then enjoyed a presentation on water systems and pollution, exploring carbon footprints, native plants, and biodiversity, and concluded the day by creating “seed bombs” with native wildflower seeds to support pollinators. Through these interconnected experiences, Cohort 11 deepened their understanding of environmental stewardship while contributing meaningfully to the community.

Special Projects

This month, the Special Projects team led a thoughtful mosaic workshop at Beth El Congregation, giving community members the chance to design and assemble their own beautifully mosaicked Mezuzahs. The finished pieces were truly exquisite—and perfectly timed for the holiday season.
