Dear Friends:
I am personally declaring August the month of gratitude. I was recently sick for two weeks and had to sleep much of the time. It felt like a horrible waste of time, especially during our beautiful Maine summer. But you know what? I came out of it with an incredible sense of gratitude for my life, for my business, my family, my employees, and primarily for my health! Taking a moment to pause and feel gratitude is not a bad idea.
Another thing I’m big on, speaking of gratitude, is the practice of writing and sending handwritten thank-you notes. It’s incredible what an impression that makes on people who receive your letters. I have a stack of thank-you notes right here on my desk, and I look at them every day. I don't look at emails, texts, or messages on Facebook or LinkedIn. But when someone takes the time to write a note, especially on a beautiful piece of stationery, it will reside within my eyesight on my desk for a long, long time.
So, here’s a challenge for you. Get some note cards and buy some stamps at the post office. Have them handy at your desk so it’s easy to send a handwritten note. Then think of someone you’re grateful for, and send them a note in the mail. It doesn’t even have to be for anything specific. You might be just thanking someone for being part of your life. And believe me, it will make a profound impact on the person who receives it.
And if you’re inspired, please email me at nancy@prmaven.com and let me know who you sent a note to, and what their response was. That will warm the cockles of my heart!
Please have a great rest of your summer and show thanks to Mother Nature for the warm sunshine and beautiful natural world we live in!

Best,
