Dear Rochambeau Families,
As summer begins, we mark the bittersweet end of another successful academic year. We want to congratulate all of our students and faculty on their hard work, dedication, and remarkable accomplishments.
The 2025–2026 academic year marked a significant milestone for our school as we proudly celebrated our 70th anniversary with a wide range of events, initiatives, and special projects that brought our community together:
-
The Opening Ceremony kicked things off in September, followed by the Back-to-School BBQ, where we unveiled our new school mascot to the community; the Mousquetaire fox.
-
The "070: License to Celebrate" gala brought our anniversary celebration to the International Spy Museum, where the generosity of our community and sponsors raised $40,000. These funds will support two new outdoor learning spaces: the Junior Fox Den at Maplewood and the Mousquetaire Lounge at Forest Road.
-
70 Faces of Rochambeau: A visual storytelling project and tribute to our students who are at the heart of our work at Rochambeau.
The last weeks of the school year were filled with the echo of proud "congratulations" and tears of joy as we celebrated our students reaching important milestones. We honored our youngest graduates at the maternelle and elementary graduations, and recognized the incredible accomplishments of the Class of 2026: 100% received their French Baccalauréat, 88.5% achieved Honors, and 43% attained the highest Honors, and we are looking forward to receiving the International Baccalaureate results in July.
Our graduates secured acceptances from many globally prestigious schools, including the University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, Dartmouth College, University College London, Johns Hopkins University, and Sciences Po, Paris Saclay, La Sorbonne, ESSEC, ESCP, ENSA, Centrale Supélec, Mines Paris, Sainte Geneviève, Louis Le Grand in France. We wish them the best of luck on their next journey and hope they remember they will forever find a home and a community at Rochambeau.
On the athletic front, Rochambeau celebrated the Varsity Boys volleyball team winning its first-ever ISVBL championship with an undefeated season. Rochambeau shined in cross-country, soccer, winning titles and championships. Thank you to our Mousquetaires for raising our colors in sports and embodying the spirit of “Un pour tous, tous pour un” with pride.
We thank our faculty, staff, PAR, student and parent volunteers, Gala Committee, and student ambassadors, without whom none of this would have been possible.
As we prepare for the 2026-27 school year, enrollment is tracking in line with our budgeted projections and all teaching positions have been filled with highly qualified, certified educators, ensuring the continued excellence of Rochambeau’s academic program. At the same time, an increasing number of families have shared that they are facing unexpected financial challenges. The Board of Trustees has listened carefully to these concerns and, as part of its annual review of the school’s budget for next year, has considered how best to balance the school’s long term strategic objectives. The Board evaluated the timing of certain planned investments, including those aimed at strengthening faculty retention over the long-term. It determined that some of these initiatives can be implemented over a longer timeframe while continuing to support faculty and preserve the exceptional educational experience that families expect from Rochambeau.
As a result of this gradual approach, the board has approved a $350 per student reduction to the previously announced tuition for the 2026-27 school year, reducing the effective average annual increase from 5% to 4%. This decision reflects the Board’s commitment to responsible stewardship of school resources, continued investment in the strength of our academic program, and support for our community. Additional details regarding the tuition adjustment will be communicated separately to families.
To our international community who will be relocating: thank you for your trust, your memories, and for being part of our community during your time in the U.S. We wish you the very best, and know that our doors remain open wherever you are around the globe.
Before I wish you all a happy summer, please save the date for our Back-to-School BBQ on September 12th, when we'll come together to celebrate the start of the 2026–2027 school year. Moreover, please take a few moments to complete the Parent Survey, open until July 1st. Your feedback means a great deal to us as we continue to enhance every part of what makes Rochambeau a school you trust with your children’s education and well-being. Finally, keep an eye out for our Highlights, revisiting the many memorable moments from this eventful month of June, which will be published on Saturday, June 27.
Thank you, everyone, for making this anniversary year one we will never forget.
Wishing you a restorative and wonderful summer.
